“One of the most beautiful views from a hotel!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 January 2011

We stayed here after Christmas for 2 nights. Do not underestimate the altitude of this hotel - we actually had painful popping ears (of the type when landing in an aircraft) when driving back and fore Merano (a 15 minute drive). Given the altitude, the views were therefore absolutely amazing...

The hotel itself is beautiful. It's fairly difficult to find in the dark, once you've turned off the main road you have to drive through a building site of another hotel that has no proper road. I'm sure this will only be very temporary however.

The lobby/reception area is very contemporary and has been cleverly designed to make the most of the wonderful views - when walking towards the restaurant it feels as if the building is actually floating, amazing.

Our ''deluxe'' type room was very modern and fairly big. The bed was one of the largest and most comfortable we've ever experienced. The sitting area could be improved - the two chairs were pretty uncomfortable (unfortunately sofas appear to only be available in the larger rooms). There was a desk and plenty of storage space but I did miss a vanity table - a mirror above the desk would be perfect. The bathroom was beautiful but poor water pressure in the shower.

Breakfast was wonderful, great coffee and an amazing selection of all the usual continental items - with the addition of beautiful cakes!

We had two problems with this hotel - one was the Wifi cost at 10 euro for 2 hours. When you're paying the rates they ask for bed & breakfast it seems ridiculous not to include unlimited free Wifi as other (much cheaper) hotels do.

More importantly however, the hotel was unfortunately the noisiest we have ever stayed at! There was all sorts of banging and the sound of machinery going on above our room from 8 in the morning until 10 in the night. As we only stayed 2 nights it didn't bother us too much but I would have asked for a quieter room if I was staying longer.

Overall a beautiful hotel with possibly the nicest views we've ever been lucky enough to experience from a balcony - reason enough to stay here in our opinion. A few problems but overall recommended.

“The views are to die for”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 January 2011

You could not fault this hotel for its position - the views are magnificent from every room. If you dont mind the 20 min drive into Merano below then it is in a perfect position. We stayed for 5 nights from the 30th of Dec to the 4th January 2011 with our nine year old daughter. The new years eve menu in the restaurant was magnificent and well worth the 120 euro per person including plenty of wine ( or daughter ate from the childrens menu). Viewing the fireworks in the valley at midnight was a rare sight. But it is best to book a table in the restaurant as the other 2 restaurants on site are not a patch on the main one. Having said that the menu is the same whichever room you eat in and this is something that the hotel needs to address because it is not true to say that there are 3 restaurants at the hotel, there are just three rooms to eat in and one of them has no windows. this hotel really needs to provide a more relaxed snack based menu to compliment the main dining room. During our visit we all suffered very badly from a bout of flu. My husband asked if it was possible for us to just have a sandwich or something very simple sent to our room as non of us were feeling up to eating much, neither did we want anything too complicated. The answer was that all they could provide to the room was one dish from the normal restaurant menu and that we would all need to have the same dish - even our nine year old. They would not make up a sandwich even though we were all unwell. The next problem i found was with the breakfast. A hotel of this calibre really should provide fresh juice at breakfast and i think they should provide at least a choice of freshly cooked eggs. There was nothing warm to eat at breakfast. we ordered afternoon tea one day in the bar and i would have expected a little something to nibble to be served with that as in most places in Italy but it came with a little square of chocolate and nothing else. These are small things but all go to creating a less than perfect experience which in my opinion would not take a lot of effort or cost to include.

“Amazing View”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 October 2010

We spent one night at the GranPanorama Miramonti while travelling south and stopping in at some of the local wineries in the Alto Adige. We consider this hotel to be the real hidden gem of our vacation through Europe. The scenery is amazing, with every table in the restaurant having a terrific view of Merano below. The rooms were nice and the beds very comfortable.
We would definately return.

“very nice hotel, restaurant could have been better though”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 October 2010

We stayed 3 nights.

1) We had a very nice and big room with a nice view on the valley.
2) The minibar was free of charge... Great!
3) They have a very nice swimmingpool and spa area.
4) For those interested: There is a very cosy smoking room + a small (and nice) selection of cuban cigars.
4) The restaurant was decent but not spectacular for a fine dining restaurant.

CCL: Nice place and we will come back if we are in the area.

“Great location, lovely rooms and great food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 September 2010

One of the beauties of driving rather than training through Europe is that you can get to out-of-the-way gems like the Miramonti. Perched high on a hill with spectacular views over the South Tyrol mountains and valleys, this hotel offers spacious modern rooms and a restaurant offering modern cuisine in an all-glass restaurant where every table has a great view. The restaurant staff in particular were cheerful and knowledgeable and keen to explain local foods and wines. The town of Mareno (10 mins down the mountain) is well worth a visit, being a little slice of the Austrian Empire nestled in the Italian alps.
