“Another good stay”

We stayed here two years ago and had another lovely 8 day break. The staff are extremely polite and helpful. We had a luxury poolside room which was lovely but there is no walk in shower, just a shower above the bath. Where are room was there is a water overflow canal into the sea and at times there was an awful smell, altho you could not smell it inside the room. The toilets at the pool are spotless and always a nice aroma inside. lunches are nice and service quite good. There is a happy hour from 4-6 where a number of cocktails are half price. Would like to have had some back ground music at poolside. Taxi drivers are more than friendly and it's amazing how many female drivers there are. Staff at desk are very helpful and
nothing is too much . Eating out in Barbados is an experience as the quality of food and service is extremely high. Would highly recommend cin cin, tides, daphnes and lone star. Beautiful food and lovely atmosphere. All in all a good four star hotel but if you are used to five star, we went over the fairmont pavilion where we were shown a junior suite ocean view which was jus WOW! There is now a lovely shopping mall 15 min walk away called lime grove with a very modern cinema if you want to escape eating for one night! Designer shops and more

my second visit and still just as good as last time. what makes this hotel is the staff you couldnt get more helpful and friendly staff anywhere. the rooms are great and well serviced each day.I will be going again and again .food at lunch and in evening was all great.
suggest booking just bed and breakfast and then exploring the other restaurants in the area ..Angry Annies in Holetown a good restaurant but booking in advance a must as a small restaurant .

Room Tip: all rooms good but rooms 130 to138 poolside fab ..depending on season beach ground floor rooms do ge...

“WOW! This place was fantastic! VERY IMPRESSED! Don't listen to bad reviews, Our stay was fabulous!!!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 December 2011

My husband and I agonized over our stay in Barbados for months. Our travel agent kept recommending this place but some bad reviews were steering me away. Finally I didn't have time anymore to find the best deal at the best place blah blah blah.....
Our travel agent booked a great deal. $225 with Breakfast. We were there for 10 days. And it was worth every single penny.

We were on our Honeymoon. The manager found me on Tripadvisor and said she knows we will have a fantastic stay with them. Since the minute we got out of the car they treated us like royalty. They had welcome beverages, rum punch of course! They upgraded us to a I bedroom Suite, it was amazing! I don't know what the other rooms look like but when we go back someday we will be booking this type of room. They set up a nice little dinner for us in our room as they knew our flight got in really late. Including with a bottle of wine and cheese/fruit plates for each of us. There were rose petals and candles floating in the tub and on the bed. It was so romantic! We had an awesome evening in the room the first night and we didn't even have to go out for anything. They had it all right there for us.

This hotel is CLEAN! Very very very CLEAN! I checked for bed bugs, none at all. It was just a dream spot for us. Everything we ever wanted in a hotel was here. The beds are comfortable. I slept like a baby. You go to sleep listening to the frogs and waves at night.

We went to the managers cocktail party. That was fun, they serve appetizers and cocktails poolside. They make sure you are having a great stay and offer to make dinner reservations for you each night. Every time we saw someone around the resort they did the same.

The happy hour at the hotel was great!!! And at the same time they have Tea time up in one of the rooms. They have tea sandwiches, tea and some other items waiting for you. Make sure you do the room service. It is nice to eat out on the patio and it only cost another $7barbadian. It was well worth it. After the first day of eating in the dining room we found that breakfast was much fresher and more enjoyable in the room. They will bring you whatever you want. This was the biggest meal we ate all day it got us though most of the day being full. And if we had any leftovers we just put it in the mini fridge.

The pool was very nice. The pools are separated so it is very private and they have very nice lounges with comfortable pads. You can find many private areas to set your lounges up in. They have double lounges which was so nice! We fell asleep many times on that bad boy. It was soooo comfortable. They have server’s poolside that makes sure you always have anything you need. They come around twice a day with treats for you -- very refreshing!

The beach was fantastic. Lots of palm trees... The sand is nice and soft. Be careful when walking in the water, it’s not a big deal but there are some coral in there. But it wasn't a problem for anyone while we were there. The resort offers activities. We went Kayaking and we were planning on doing more activities because it was so fun and all set up for you right away. But we ran out of time, we liked to go into town and explore the island. There were some great little restaurants, which were reasonably price that we found on Trip Advisor. So make sure you look!!

There is a man that comes around to rub your feet with Aloe. He was very nice. Good foot massage and very refreshing. They call him "Dr. Cool." He was very nice and does this for a living to feed his family so we were happy to help him out and get a nice foot rub. He warns you about this creepy guy that does the same thing. Sure enough we saw this other guy, I can't remember his name he is younger... but the younger guy like rubs up your leg and stuff. We watched him with some others, he wasn't appropriate with the women. We stayed away from him.

We did the swim with the turtles & shipwreck boat ride. We book with one of the guys on the beach. We recommend booking with Rodney. Ask for him. They all know him... But you can negotiate the price. It was well worth it. I think we only paid like $40 pp USD. Don't quote me It could have been more like $60..... But it was fun!! And a nice way to end the day.

Make sure you check out Ragamuffins on Sunday night. Its a fun Drag show and the food is good. Kids can go. Those girls are funny!

Oistins fish fry on Friday night or whenever you can go... It’s really fun too but really busy so go early to find parking. We got lucky and parked about 5 minutes away in a lot by the ocean near the bust stop. The food was so good.

North of the hotel in Sprieghtstown there is this bar on the warf that has cheap eats. Its a big yellow bar, you can't miss it. They have some good food for CHEAP!

In Holetown there is a BBQ place on the Eastside of the street. You can get a beautiful dinner for less than $20 or $15. They are close some parts of the day, but check it out it was so good! We went there for lunch several times and dinner once. The fish is fresh and they know how to BBQ. Trust me on this one. I love fish and this was the best we had. And we went to some meals where our bill was over $200 for just the two of us. This was by far the best meal we had on the island because of the freshness.

Check out Trip Advisor for place to find Green Monkeys and make sure you go to The Harrisons Caves. That was so incredible!!!

I was sooooo incredibly happy with our stay. I want to express that once more. Gayle the manager will take such good care of you. Trust that!

Oh funny story and good tip.... Halfway though our trip we left our Ipod on the player in the room. The maids loved it. We would come back with them signing along to Usher or whatever else we had on there. One time we came back with the maid signing to Rhianna and she had folded all of our clothes and organized everything. I bet we were her favorite room of the day and we started leaving the ipod on because the service got twice as good after that. :)

Thanks,
Kate

Our second visit to Barbados and our second time to the Colony Club. We stayed B&B as we wanted the freedom to eat out in some of the superb restaurants on the island. Breakfast and lunch at the hotel were fine and as we only eat dinner on our first night at the hotel we can't comment outside the fact that the food was good. We will certainly stay again (hopefully next year) although we will try and avoid the rainy season, great Island, great hotel, great food, great beach, lovely staff and the island is full of lovely lovely people.

Room Tip: if you travel in the rainy season which we did the rooms on the North side are better as they are aw...

“Close to paradise”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 December 2011

Thanks to all the reviewers on tripadvisor for recommending the Colony Club. It was divine. I've been to many resorts in the Caribbean but have never received such charming service. We had a lovely room and terrace overlooking the Caribbean sea, complete with all the amenities we could wish for. The staff couldn't do enough for us. As for the comment about the staff not moving fast enough...you're in the Caribbean. Chill out. And, yes, the resort does preserve its British charm. But not at the expense of providing a memorable experience.

Room Tip: Ask for a room overlooking the sea. These rooms are centrally located.
