We stayed at the Europa Aug 2004. Sunset Crest is a residential area with appartments and villas within it. Some apartments are very nice but the Europa apartments vary from basic (as described in Airtours brochure) to pretty awful. We had to be moved due to the state of the first one we were in. They are cleaned daily, but there are many problems with plumbing (limescale on taps which leaked, blocked loos, a burst pipe resulting in brown water to name a few) stained curtains and valances, and they only have air conditioning in the bedroom - token operated. The main living space is large but was like an oven and so cooking was virtually impossible and so was sleeping in this room.
The entertainment as advertised was one evening a week was really a small display (belly dancing and limbo), though the food was lovely. The poolside bar food was generally good and reasonable. The best thing about it was the bar stayed open till 11.
The bar shuts at 10 or before everynight apparently because of the residents around the complex. As there is nothing in the way of nightlife in Holetown, this was particularly disappointing.
The Baku beach club was like a building site round the pool and the disco had 10 people in it on both occassions members of our party tried it.
The male bartender at the Europa was wonderful and being on his own, coped admirably on the entertainment nights. The receptionists on the desk were also friendly polite and helpful.
The pool was cleaned but is very small and there are an adequate number of sunbeds. Iced water is provided for free from the bar.
I understand a much needed, complete overhall is being undertaken for these apartments - not before time.
I hope she doesn't mind, but I would also like to mention that our Airtours rep -Solange was wonderful.
