Where do I start, well when we first arrived on Sunday evening we were meet by a friendly reception staff member called prudence who was very efficient, we were giving a lovely refreshing rum punch, what a lovely start to the holiday. While we were having this, our cases were taken to our room unbeknown to us, what a lovely touch. When we were ready to go to our room we were shown to this by a really lovely girl called Sade, what a gem she is and the room if you could call it a room, it had a lounge, dressing room, kitchen and bathroom all of very high standards and the complementary coconut cream lotions was so personal.

The rooms are cleaned daily to a very high standard and are so comfortable sometimes we did not want to leave it.

After reading the reviews about the food did these people stay at the same hotel as us. I mean 6 nights of a la carte excellent high standard food every evening cooked to perfection and nothing was to much trouble and all served to you with a lovely smiling face and all the staff were fantastic to name a few lovely Sade, Ryan,Tonya,Rikky,Mac and every one else.
The breakfast was always very good, I asked if I could have an omelette and when it arrived it was the best, so I had many more throughout my stay and the lunch, well there was so much choice and as for having to wait you waited no longer than you would in a normal restaurant but hay you are on holiday, chill ok. The menu was a bit repetitive but after putting on 4 pounds and my husband putting on a stone that speaks for itself and I am a fussy eater.

The bar staff are fantastic, nothing is to much trouble Hamilton and Greg is always so happy and Roy makes a lovely cocktail. A nice touch, was the drinks service by the pool.

The grounds was excellently kept and the gardeners were very helpful and friendly and informed us when the monkeys were in the grounds so took some lovely photos of them.

The pool was very clean and was never very busy so you can always get a sun bed.

My husband went out twice on the glass bottom boat it was not falling apart like some reviews have said excellent swimming with the turtles and on the way back he stopped over a reef so we could do more snorkelling.

A good night was had on the BBQ food was very good and lots of choice.

We meet alot of lovely people as the hotel is so small and friendly and very much hope to go back next year all in all a fantastic holiday and would thoroughly recommend it any one for a quiet and relaxing break.

The people of Barbados are very friendly and helpful and we felt very safe there.

We have just (today) returned from this fantastic country and superb hotel. The service was faultless, we didn't ever have to wait for food or drink, the staff training should be copied in lots of other countries! Our room was immaculate, the pool area was absolutely stunning, the spa facilities were superb, there wasn't a moment when we didn't feel special. I would not recommend trying to walk to the hotel beach, there really is no need as the shuttle is efficient. The evening entertainment is rather laid back and mellow, (no blaring music, disco or such like) if you happened to crave more energetic entertainment then we would recomend booking a trip to Oistins through Terry, one of the managers,(what a night) his driver really was at our service. The evening a la carte menu should vary slightly (especially for a two week stay) The steak (on the bbq evening) was one of the best I have ever eaten.

Beautiful hotel in unique setting within easy reach of beaches and Holetown. Described as a boutique hotel, Sugar Cane has a fantastic Spa area and Art Gallery as well as some of the friendliest reception staff on the island. The pool area was perfect for the amount of guests the hotel caters, with lots of beds and space. The food was great as was the entertainment. The rooms are extremely well equipped for the size with lovely extras such as toiletries in the bathrooms. Its also good to note that the air con is probably the most efficient on the island.

just arrived back to UK from a fantastic 2 week holiday at Sugar Cane Club. This was our second trip out and not a disappointment :-) Such a super setting and totally committed staff that look after you 100% of the way.
We arrived on a Sunday early evening to a welcome Barbados Rum Punch (just the beginning) Hic!!
It was just like going back to your really good friends/family, who you haven't seen for a couple of years. NEW STUFF - now have a buffet breakfast every morning. This was very OK and you could order your eggs if you didn't want scrambled every day! Food was generally brilliant, it had changed slightly since last year as there were two buffet evenings as well as the fantastic BBQ evening on Thursday- not so keen on the two buffet evenings but can understand why they decided to go with this option, but a la carte 6 nights of the week would be fantastic!!
Hosts Roddy and Larrisa are so genuine and lovely, so open to all little ideas on improvements etc!
PLEASE Let Roy know that his marinade is delicious - tossed some chicken and rice with beans into it this evening (10.10.09) - WOW!!
Miss being looked after and feeling soo at home, Roy - Ian will send you some music eventually Roy I won't let him forget. :-)
Green monkeys are gorgeous and so touchable - but don't !!! Sharp teeth!
Whistling frogs etc.
The 'Generals' glass bottom boat is great, although has seen better days, but super - But needs to include water and beer ect in a cold box.
Evening menu needs to be varied more we think - fish fantastic as is all food - but a varied turnover would make a big difference.
Such good value - totally relaxing - got to know some great people ----don't go there - or else you will spoil it for us?!
Jane And Ian xx

Management response from RodSCC, Managing Director
(Management representative)
16 Nov 2009
Dear TripAdvisor Visitors,

Thank you for visiting Sugar Cane Club's page. We wish to inform you that we've noticed some comments about the Glass Bottom boat looking like it has had better days, and it has! We presently have the boat on dry dock and it is receiving a full refurbishment. We hope to have it back in the water by next week.

It also gives me great pleasure to inform everybody that the Beach Facility is being moved on the 25th of this month. The new location will be very close to the Hotel, as it is located to the right of the pier at Port St. Charles- the closest beach to the Hotel. This will be a 8 minute walk, or 1 minute drive in the shuttle or car. The Beach facility will continue to carry chairs, umbrellas, drinks, snorkeling, kayaks and improved facilities.

We commit to making constant improvements to make each visit a better experience.

Thank you for your comments, and we look forward to seeing you in the near future!

Rod Weatherhead
Managing Director

We have just returned from a great holiday in Barbados, where we stayed at the Sugar Cane Club. Everything was faultless, the staff were so friendly and kind, and we met some really lovely people while we were there. All of this made our holiday experience one we will remember.

Well done to all the staff, including the General, the hotel bus drivers, the girls in the Spa and the gardeners.

We cannot recommend it highly enough and hope to return!!
