“Splendour, if a little faded”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 October 2010

The setting is fabulous and a great stopover on a lot of tours through Morocco. It's at the foot of the Tiz'n Test pass which is simply fantastic: THE most beautiful pass over the Atlas.

Yes, the place is slightly tatty but still stunning. The staff are friendly and the food good if not remarkable. The grounds - simply breathtaking. Recommended just for the experience.

“Unique, fantastic,.... but!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 April 2010

Riad Hida is a unique place. The hotel and grounds are those of a wonderful French Moroccan country house, and are delightful. They are clearly hugely expensive to maintain and restore, and whilst some has been done, there is much to do.

The grounds are fantastic - swimming pool, oranges, limes and grapefruit growing, peacocks strolling. Our room (suite) was the largest we have ever stayed in. The bathroom was also the largest we've ever had in a hotel. The ceiling in the dining room is just amazing. Yet....

Yet, whilst the room was fantastic, there is a certain lack of ambience and service. If you are seeking an oasis of quiet, you will find it; if you want to find a party atmosphere, then best to bring it with you. The rooms were not well equipped - just a small bar of soap and towels are provided.

Food was good; and is served table d'hote at a fixed time.

“Riad Palais Hida. Has to be Number One”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 January 2010

I stayed at Riad Hida for 3 days,(2 Nights), as part of a tour at the New Year. It was not over busy apart from us tourers, I think about 5 other families/couples dining each night. It's a really lovely place,a true palace, and even at this time very sunny every day,(though we heard all about the torrential rain of the previous week), and a great treat to eat our breakfast, and a splendid breakfast it was, on a sunny terrace, at the turn of the year.
There is a large bar, very professionally staffed, and with a local musical group for a few hours every evening. After the wine some of our party attempted Berber dancing, but the less said the better. Days were spent at the splendid pool, also some time in nearby saffron centre Talouine, and in Ouled Beril, both villages worth a trip, and give a sense of present day Morocco away from Agadir. The dinners were very satisfactory, soup each night with a chicken tajine with almonds and prunes and potato and vegetables for the first night and a lamb tajine on the 2nd. The sweet was a tart or fresh fruit. We were all very sorry to go from Palais Riad Hida, and would have very gladly and gratefully spent the remaining nights there, but Agadir beckoned and it was all arranged.Hope to get back, one fine day, inchallah.

“Lovely property in the middle of nowhere”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 October 2009

this is such a lovely concept!
it's a hotel, and gardens, with peacocks everywhere!
it has orange trees growing in the back, fountains, a lovely pool area!!
lovely place to have authentic moroccan berber food. may i suggest the tagine?? sublime!
as you are having your meal, the peacocks come to watch you and start walking around. it's just so charming!
the pool area is lovely! very calm, very relaxing!
the only glitch is that it is so far from taroudant...about 45 mins away. about more than an hour away from agadir.
i highly suggest coming here for lunch though. it definitely is an experience!

“Nice palace”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 August 2008

We stayed here just one night in march. The property is nice a big garden with a big pool. The food was also very good really genuine well cocked Moroccan food. The staff was ok.

The only downside was the room that was a little run down and not that clean either.
