“A good place to stopover”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 November 2011

The Riad was very nice, with fabulous grounds. Our family room and bathroom were very spacious and the beds good, with the decor fine. The bathroom was a little 1980s but large. The pool was lovely but unheated as usual. The dining room was spectacular, the food good, but did feel a little spooky as we were the only people eating. It was a welcome oasis on a fairly long journey, but definitely lacked atmosphere. It was reasonable value for money compared to other places.

Room Tip: Our family room near the pool was ideally situated if you have young children.

“Beautiful for holiday makers, not great for business”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 November 2011

I stayed here for business. The rooms and surroundings are beautiful. I travel extensively around the world and I've still not been to a hotel that is as stunning as this one. It's set in the old palace grounds and has wildlife galore! Peacocks, Tortoise, cats, birds and more!

Breakfast consisted of cearals and toast, meats, chesses and jams all served in mini tagine type dishes.

Supper is included in the price and was always excellent. Large plate of salad followed by a typical tagine, couscous or similar. The only problem (for some people) would be that this was the only choice. For me as a non-fussy eater it was fantastic and I really enjoyed it but I know some people wouldnt.

The rooms were air conditioned but basic. No Television or internet in the rooms. (A single cabled ethernet port was available in the main reception area).

Beds were firm and comforable with sheets.

This would make a lovely hotel for a honeymoon or romantic weekend away but it's not the best for business. If you're staying for a long time be prepared with reading material, movies etc on your laptop!

Room Tip: Stayed in room 17 which was fine.

“Hidden treasure”

We stayed here as a stop-over from Ouarzazete to the Moroccan coast. At first we were a little bit hesitant since it was in the middle of a small village in the middle of nowhere. When we entered however this changed quickly. The grounds are magnificent with a luscious garden and peacocks strolling around.

Diner and breakfast were absolutely lovely although be warned: you need to come with an empty stomach! The staff seemed to be so happy to cater to all our needs that the food was more suitable for 6 people instead of 2 small, women!

At that time we were the only guests in the establishment. The rooms are spacious and clean.

I would really recommend this hotel to anyone, so if you have the time, spend some time here!

“Splendour, if a little faded”

The setting is fabulous and a great stopover on a lot of tours through Morocco. It's at the foot of the Tiz'n Test pass which is simply fantastic: THE most beautiful pass over the Atlas.

Yes, the place is slightly tatty but still stunning. The staff are friendly and the food good if not remarkable. The grounds - simply breathtaking. Recommended just for the experience.

“Unique, fantastic,.... but!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 April 2010

Riad Hida is a unique place. The hotel and grounds are those of a wonderful French Moroccan country house, and are delightful. They are clearly hugely expensive to maintain and restore, and whilst some has been done, there is much to do.

The grounds are fantastic - swimming pool, oranges, limes and grapefruit growing, peacocks strolling. Our room (suite) was the largest we have ever stayed in. The bathroom was also the largest we've ever had in a hotel. The ceiling in the dining room is just amazing. Yet....

Yet, whilst the room was fantastic, there is a certain lack of ambience and service. If you are seeking an oasis of quiet, you will find it; if you want to find a party atmosphere, then best to bring it with you. The rooms were not well equipped - just a small bar of soap and towels are provided.

Food was good; and is served table d'hote at a fixed time.
