It is on the north coast of Koy Samui, very nice beach and not as busy as other parts of the island. With the scooter you are in 15 minutes in the Chaweng, the touristical area. The resort is very clean, very green with beautiful tries and plants and the rooms are good! All the rooms have aircon, Fridge and shower and the bed was good too! You can rent scooter on the resort, shops nearby, Big C, Tesco and of course some 7-11 shops. I loved it here!

The Mae Nam resort looks great on the internet with beachfront bungalows and lush gardens, but the reality is not so appealing. The rooms are very dingy and dark, with no TV and no (free) wireless internet. The staff weren't exactly friendly and there was a very unsocial feel about the resort. With so many other places to stay on Samui, you can probably find a better place

We stayed at Mae Nam for a week and thoroughly enjoyed it. It was the first time to travel to Thailand with kids but my wife and I wanted an experience like we had in Thailand traveling 20 years ago. We didn't want a resort with a pool, but a simple clean bungalow on the sand with an affordable restaurant with basic Thai food. Mae Nam was great for this. Mae Nam is a mellow place with a wide open stretch of beach that was perfect for the kids to run around, swim, go crazy. The beach wasn't crowded so it was easy to watch them from a distance. We had a great, clean, comfortable air-con bungalow facing the water. We could walk 30 seconds to the restaurant for good Thai and Western food. There were a lot of families staying there for 2+ weeks so we were the short-timers. After a few days our kids found other kids to play with from all over Europe and Thailand. They could go to the restaurant to play games with their new friends, eat a snack or get a fruit shake. There wasn't much nightlife other than hanging out at the restaurant with other friendly families. The prices were very reasonable for the room and food. Overall it was just what we hoped to find for the family.

We spent 8 nights here in June. We had the 2 room chalet.It was a bit dingy. A coat of paint and a bit of updating would go a long way. It was expensive enough for the standard. It was however well located. The restaurant also had a staff member or two who were downright unfriendly and unhelpful which was the only encounter of that kind that we had during our month in Thailand. They need to get their staff trained properly. This attitude is not good enough.
