“Exceeded our expectations!”

I don't have enough good things to say about this place. The room (Two Bedroom Oceanfront Pool Residence) was absolutely inedible - and the website doesn't do it justice. You have three separate buildings, all terraced, so all have amazing views (containing your kitchen/living area, and each of the bedrooms). You feel completely secluded, and could spend your whole trip in your little residence.
The staff is incredibly accommodating, and extremely friendly. They were happy to help with any request (including moving everyone's tables outside in the middle of Christmas Eve Dinner!!), and do it with a smile. This is service like no other. Everything about the hotel is beautifully designed, and well-planned. They have thought of every detail, which helps for you to just sit back, and completely relax.
There are several activities organized by the hotel daily. While we didn't do many of them, the ones we did partake in were fun. I recommend going to see the monkeys pick coconuts from the trees.
Also - the breakfast each morning is delicious. It was easy to get up and walk to the main dining hall with a spread like that!
I echo all of the great reviews below. It's an absolutely incredible place to stay!

“if only all hotels were this good”

I endorse all the good reviews below. This is well managed with top levels of service and facilities all done very well indeed.

Our seaview villa was beautiful, with a lovely big bathroom/dressing room with sea view and a big marble bath. Different local fruits arrive daily with a handy booklet to tell you about them. Good powerful aircon keeps it deliciously cool. A daily sheet tells you about the various activites around the hotel. Twice daily refreshing of all the towels and toiletries, copious free water and milk for the fridge.

Our villa 129 was quite a long walk from anything, the far end of the row made it very private but you cant easily nip back to the room from the beach without an uphill walk and some steps. I'm sure you can request a nearer room if this matters more to you.

My only very minor gripe about the lovely room is that the tea/coffee facility, which I always greatly appreciate in hotels, here feels like an afterthought, cheaply done with a very basic kettle and mismatched teabags and nescafe sachets. It feels like a cheap 3 star and isnt up to the lovely standard of everything else. I suggest a rethink here would be wise. Otherwise it is pretty faultless all round.

The infinity pool is lovely and the beach area is well tended with highly attentive staff who rush to help with providing constant shade. Fruit or sorbet arrives at your lounger at 1 PM . A gentle breeze kept it cooler by the beach .

As others have noted, you dont get a huge expanse of white sandy beach for long strolls here. What you do get is a smallish but private well tended beach with lovely warm water for swimming, shallow until a fair way out, with easy snorkelling and equipment provided. Its really lovely and relaxing here.

Special credit to trainee manager Florian who makes a real effort to talk to guests. We gave him honest feedback about the restaurants and mentioned service had been a little bit slow one evening, not meant as a complaint at all. Next day we got champagne and a jar of chocolate macaroons in the room with an effusive letter of apology from the manager and an offer of a free dinner in any restuarant. we were very impressed they took the service levels so seriously and want to truly excel.

Our view of the 3 restaurants overall is that they need to better delineate the 3 . They have different but rather similar menus and a similar style and feel. They style the beachfront one as 'casual' but we thought it the best and most romantic setting and much preferred it to the Lan Thai which is in the breakfast room area and felt devoid of any atmosphere as it was so empty - would be better themed as the more modest and casual option we felt. The most 'posh' of the 3 with pricier french inspired food is too near the main pool to quite achieve the classy feel it wants. It needs a better separation from the pool bar area. Entertainment was a bit cheesy though the sax/flute player is very talented.

Food was pretty decent . I particulary liked the desserts and recommend the crispy feulletine, chocolate fondant and French apple tart. Mains were less memorable, though never less than very good. No cause for complaint at all.

Alot of people seem to eat in their villas so the restuarants all felt too empty and a bit devoid of atmosphere . Not sure there's much they can do about this, i guess it tends to happen in villa styled resorts like this.

Too many families with very young childfren dominating the pool area for our taste for the first few days, but it seemed to be due to families coming for Chinese New year and settled down to a more peaceful feel after that. We did enjoy releasing the lanterns over the sea after the New Year buffet evening.

We took a half day trip out to see the island highlights, good if you like photogenic temples, Buddhas, waterfalls, elephants, markets, all in one half day, then back to more relaxing by afternoon.
Overall it was absolutely lovely, very well managed and we loved it.

Room Tip: walking distances from beach and reception vary quite alot, so weigh up distance vs more privacy.

“Excellent Hotel”

Fabulous hotel. Great staff, always extremely friendly and very helpful.

Nice location. Far enough from Chaweng to feel relaxed, but close enough to Bophut and Fisherman's Village for a nice night out. The hotel entertainment, although quite expensive is well worth the money.

Florian, who speaks so many languages will make you so welcome and for such a young man is extremely professional and personable. Anna who works on reception is very friendly and helpful and a pleasure to deal with. All the Thai staff are brilliant too.

Stayed at many 5* resorts and this one is up there with the best of them. Great value for money and would certainly return when next in Samui.

Room Tip: Stayed in a hillside villa. It as great.

“Almost faultless”

Where do you start? It has to be the staff who are uniformly friendly, helpful and efficient. They really care and it shows.

We arrived after a very long 3 flight trip during which my jacket had suffered damage – within 4 hours it was returned repaired and laundered. As we arrived our spirits rose, and this even more so as we were escorted to our beachfront villa. The view was breathtaking and the accommodation perfect with a short walk to the pool and the beach. The room itself has a large bedroom with double doors to a beautifully appointed bathroom with dressing table and a sort of corner bath. You enter from a good sized patio via another set of double doors.

Turn down every night was a delight with flowers on the bed.

The first night we ate Lanterns, the fine dining restaurant overlooking the infinity pool. Lanterns were stretched across the pool as we sat under a covered area and worked through the 8 course taster menu with matching wines. The food was very good but not of the very highest level. Pudding with intricate sugar work was impressive.

Breakfast is served at the Lai Thai restaurant and is buffet style with an extensive choice. Particular mention should be made of the croissants and the perfect omelettes at the omelette station – the latter are works of art. All is supervised by the attentive staff (in particular Gen).

We were there for Chinese New Year – the dragon was welcomed with a superb buffet meal around the pool with lanterns lit on the beach and released into the night sky over the bay.

In the evenings we would join friends at the pool bar near lanterns where we were very well looked after by the friendly bar staff

There is some comment in other reviews over the beach. They have clearly worked hard here and now it is clear of rocks with good sand a safe bathing area which slopes very gently.

Overall this a perfect place and we really enjoyed our stay.

“A beautiful and elegant property”

The Napasai is an idilyic peaceful resort. Great staff and well managed by Jeremie and his capable team . We booked an Ocean front villa and for sheer unbridled views of the Ocean it's a must. The property is well maintained in lush gardens with villas and suites well spread so that the hotel never feels busy. The room had a great outdoor balcony with dining table and sofa - great for reading and watching the sun go down . The bedrooms are spacious and fully equipped- the bathrooms as large as the bedroom. The breakfast buffet is sumptuous and sets you up for the day.The private well staffed beach and infinity pool are relaxing places to while away the days. The multiple ding offers gives choice and when asked if I could have Thai ( Pad Thai ) on the beach tables ( normally a grill menu ) it was no problem.

Room Tip: Go for the beach view rooms
