“Good Hotel, Iove Turkey”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 December 2010

This is a good hotel very close to the center of resort. Liz who worked behind the bar is lovely and shes English. Also the receptionist girl (carnt remember there name). Its got everything you want nice rooms clean and a good pool with nice staff. Defo worth the money you pay. The only downside is they have no fridges and you carnt take food or drink into the hotel, there very strict on this. Ive been to Altinkum for 7 years on the run and would say this is one of the better hotels there here.

“You get what you pay for”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 October 2010

This was our first trip abroad together as a couple and my wife's first ever trip abroad. Upon arriving at the airport we were told by the holiday rep that we were not staying at our hotel that we booked (Dolphin Hotel) and that we would be staying at the Meryem Ana. We were a bit worried about this but the rep said that this hotel was better than the Dolphin so we went with it.
When we got to the Hotel we were pleased with the look of the hotel and the pool looked good. We were checked in quickly and helped with our baggage to our room (thank god there was a lift as it was on the third floor and the steps were steep). The room looked clean but basic and had no balcony but we were not to worried as we were not on holiday to spend all our time in the room. Be warned they do not clean the rooms every day and replace the towels rarely but if you ask they are only to happy to accommodate you.
We purchased a safe and air conditioning for the week (100 Lira) expensive but essential in 50 degree heat.
The next day we woke up to beautiful sunshine and HOT HOT HOT!!!
We learnt after the first day that you need to get up early to grab a sunbed (very German) but we soon got used to it although it can be frustrating when some people put down towels and don't turn up until late afternoon (annoying!!!).
The included breakfast at the hotel is not great (Mediterranean style) so after the first day we decided to have the cooked English breakfast which was lovely but had to pay for but was worth the money and good quality ( you don't get tomatoes like that in England).
We spent most of our holiday lasing by the pool. as the hotel was a good twenty minute walk from the beach and was very busy by day and by night. They play music all day by the pool and in the evening in the restaurant which is varied but can be a little intrusive at times.
There are regular Dolmus to and from all the beaches but can get a bit packed but very cheap at 2.5 Lira each.
The food in the hotel was of good quality and reasonably priced but you can get better deals in the restaurants down the streets and in Dolphin Square where there are also lots of bars and entertainment.
The entertainment at the hotel is pretty much non existent but the staff work very hard and long hours and always managed a smile and a chat and made the stay very pleasant.
There were lots of excursions available including boat trips but don't book with the reps as they get very expensive and are cheaper to get if you shop around at the sea front were you can get them for between ten and fifteen pounds for an all day trip with food included. Although we did not go on a boat trip, we heard that they were very good, the scenery is breathtaking and you get a good tan.
All in all we did enjoy our stay at this hotel. The service was good and the weather was very hot but lovely when all your used to is floods and one month of summer a year.

“It's fine as a holiday base, but bring earplugs...”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 September 2010

This hotel is a bit run down and could potentially be pretty nice with a litlle bit of work, but as a basic place to sleep, shower/change and eat breakfast, it's perfectly adequate. The bathroom was a bit grimy/mouldy here and there, but we didn't really care too much, as it certainly wasn't disgustingly dirty, and it was cleaned daily.

The location is very good, just 5 minutes walk to the beach and restaurants, plus a few nice bars just down the road. However, it is just next to a relatively busy road, so bring earplugs if you intend to sleep with the window open.

We never used the swimming pool, as the beach was so close, but it looked ok. Again, some pretty basic work would make it more inviting, but it seemed to be clean enough.

No complaints about the service. The staff is friendly enough. Had to request our toilet bucket to be emptied after three days, which is supposed to be done daily, but no real complaints other than that. They'll gladly help you out and offered to let us keep the room for a few hours extra for free. We decided to keep it till the evening, which was £15.

I wouldn't return to this hotel, but I would possibly suggest it as cheap option, as the area contains loads of stuff to see and do.

“It is what it is”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 September 2010

As a late book and go a nice location no frills hotel but not a disaster either,Not too far from Dolphin Square and the beach front.
The hotel room was basic but clean.
The electric sockets by the bed seemed to have been disconnected probably to discourage the use of fans, There was one socket that could be used but located in the cupboard under the TV,( not the best location!)
Breakfast was Boiled eggs Cheese Cucumber Tomatoes Bread a selection of Jams and Honey and always fresh although the tea and coffee from a machine is never the best.
We can only reiterate other postings the Tea Rooms just along the road towards the main resort area is a must. Jean and Carly are lovely people and like others we can only wish you well in your venture.

“Basic but manageable”

Not too bad a hotel, no tea/coffee making facilities in the room, towels changed in the room but bedsheets only once? Pool and surrounding area adequate for sunlovers and shade seekers. TThe male staff can be difficult to understand and be aware...They don't change travellers cheques??? Altinkum is a nice resort, a major point of note - the 'Altinkum Tea Room' close to the hotel ran by the very friendly mother and daugher team Jean and Carly serves the best English breakfast - bar none, accompanied with a proper large size pot of tea, a great way to start the day and they are so helpful, the business they have is a credit to them and the tea room inside is immaculate and also air conditioned (treat yourself and visit the tea room). Coral has the Shooting Star bar opposite the Team Room and they support and assist each other always making sure you are made very welcome and they can all give you very good advice about the resort.
