“At the woods - excellent place to stay”

We had a lovely one night stay "at the woods" which is a lovely Friendly B&B. The rooms we had were on the first floor and overlooked the mountains. The rooms were very comfortable and the bathrooms excellent - with an amazing shower! They were well equppied with a stocked fridge. Breakfast was excellent! They had booked and reccomeded that we had lunch at the Fynboshoek Cheese Farm - this was excellent and I would definatley reccomend a visit nb: you must remember to take your own wine. Would definatley reccomend this B&B and we were so dissapointed that we were only able to stay one night.

Room Tip: Room on the second floor with view of the moutains is reccomended

“Wonderful Guest House”

We stayed At The Woods for a 1 night stopover on our way to Addo. The renovated guest house was beautiful. We had first floor rooms which were really spacious with all the little touches (fridge, plug, hairdryer, good wardrobe space, balcony with chairs, swimming towels. etc), and lovely views of the mountains. Great bathroom with big walk in shower too. There was a lovely swimming pool and the surrounding garden areas were really well kept. There was a really nice lounge area where we sat playing cards having a glass of wine (from the honesty bar) after our evening meal which we had at Rafters. I had emailed Bev prior to our stay asking for information on the surrounding area and she suggested we try lunch at Fynboshoek Cheese Farm which she booked for us. This was a highlight of our holiday. We met Alja who makes all his own cheese and has won International and National awards for his cheesemaking. The setting was perfect, sat overlooking the farm dam with an abundance of home made bread and all varieties of cheese plus lovely salads and coffee - a must if staying in the area. Breakfast was taken sat outside with choice of fresh fruit salad, yoghurts, cereals, croissants, and a choice of a hot cooked breakfast plus lovely fresh coffee. Very well organised and would definitely recommend.

“Great place at Storms River Village”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 February 2012

At The Woods is a beautiful guest house with history. We had super stay for one night only. The rooms are very spacious with a beautiful view to the mountains. The lounge and breakfast area is lovely decorated and invites for relaxing moments. The breakfast was very delicious and the friendly and helpful hosts made us feel like at home. It is one of the best guest houses we´ve stayed at and it is highly recommended.

“Beautiful guest house”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 January 2012

We stayed here for 3 nights in January and it was a really beautiful guest house. The interior decoration and architecture were superb - very comfortable and spacious rooms with a briliant walk in shower. Fantastic views of the mountains from our room and breakfast area. Comfy sofas and chairs in the lounge area with plenty of interesting books if you have the time. Super choice of wine (honesty bar). Breakfast was very good and Marco and Bev were great hosts. Pretty gardens and inviting swimming pool. More sunloungers needed though - the days we were there was just one, and we laid towels out on the grass which was not all that comfortable. However, on the day we left 2 more sun loungers appeared! We loved staying here - Marco must have repaired them. The zip wire canopy tour, visiting Storms River mouth and Nature's valley - all these are a must. Dinner options are limited to only 3 in the village - Service at the Village Inn was not all that good, it was absolutely dreadful at the 50's diner, (don;t bother to go here unless your order is simple and you have about 3 hours! Best place to eat without a doubt was Rafters Restaurant at the Armagh hotel - 3 mins walk. We would have gone here for all 3 nights if we had known - good choice, lovely setting, great service and superb food. We would highly recommend staying at At The Woods and would stay there again.

Room Tip: I am sure that any of the rooms would be lovely

“A great find.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 January 2012

We have just spent two nights here. I echo all the positive comments made. I would particularly like to highlight the hospitality of the owners and Bev's father in law who spent ages helping us locate the penguin sanctuary. I thought the lounge was one of the best I had seen in a guesthouse. It is large and cosily furnished with comfortable highbacked armchairs and sofas with interesting coffee table books to browse. Internet access is good and there is a computer available for guests to use. The generous breakfast is also excellent: fruit juices, cereals, toast, lovely fruit salad and eggs. I think the property warrants a higher rating than the 3 stars allocated to it.

Practicalities: car parking is available in the front garden. The guesthouse is within a short walking distance of restaurants for dinner. Rafters at the Armagh Bed and Breakfast was particularly recommendable. The village is within easy driving distance to the natural attractions of Tstikama National Park.
