“Second time - still lovely”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 January 2012

Second time staying here and still a wonderful retreat. Bophut is lovely and this is just a couple of minutes from the centre (if you can call it that). The pool isn't big but is lovely and the views of the ocean from the pool are great. Included breakfast is fine and you can order extra/more if you want. Stayed on ground floor both times - walk straight onto the grass and then the beach. Would go back !

“Great value and location”

We loved this little beach hotel. It's really in the nicest spot along the fishing village, as you get a nice little stretch of beach pretty much to yourselves.

We are budget travellers and so this was perfect for us - great location and good value. If you get a ground floor room, your doors open right up onto the beach. We were there in low season, and as a result had the pool to ourselves for half our stay!

Our only complaint was the quality of the linen and towels. The linen was clean but quite stained and the towels really, really old. I think that they should update their linens more often. One day we came in and the white doona cover had brown marks all over it. Not good.

But otherwise, highly recommended.

Room Tip: Make sure you ask for a ground floor room.

“if you are on a fixed budget”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 September 2011

its good if you are high on outdoors and a budget hotel with basic amenties will do. the staff is helpful but can do only so much.on the better side, the beach is just a few steps from all the rooms and we had a great sea view from inside our room. the hotel was very prompt in mails/ correspondence with us and even mailed us a 'thank you 'mail post our stay.

Room Tip: all the rooms face the sea and have same view, so choose any.

“Bophut - A Gem”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 September 2011

This is my 2nd time in Bophut. The first being nearly 10 years ago. The village has expanded in that time but still has it's charm. Cheweng, though is a horror.

We chose Baan Bophut because it is small, avoids kids (nothing against them, but they tend to ruin the holidays of those who choose not to have them by screaming and running riot).

Most descriptions on TA are accurate and fair. On the plus side, the rooms are adequate and good value for money. The beds are indeed comfy, the AC system works well, and we got plenty of hot water when needed. The rooms are a bit souless and would easily be spruced up with local cheap artefacts. I didn't mind the bathroom wet room style but my wife was not that keen.

Breakfasts are good. We usually opted for the extras at a small cost. We didn't have dinner at the hotel because of the great choice of eats along the village beach road. We had lunch a few times, always Thai, and it was always good. The pool is small but adequate and well maintained. Great to cool off agter a hard afternoon reading a good book on the beach.

Some of the negatives, all insignificant considering the location and value for money .... The immediate beachfront is okay but could do with a regular cleaning, a bit too much dog poo for comfort. I think the same applies to most of the beach down to where the four star hotels start. The verandah furniture and sun loungers are a bit tired and the decking is rotting in a few places. There has been some mention of dogs in other reviews. Yes, the hotel has a dog and she's a real sweetie. However, there are alot of dogs in general in Bophut all owned it seems by local hotels, bars, and restaurants. All sem good natured but they can get lively at times and yes they poo on the beach and nobody seems to think it's their job to shift it.

Some great restaurants in Bophut, maybe a few too many. We recommend the BBQ steaks at The Shack, serving up ice cold Chang and succulent Aussie Black Angus beef. Something for every taste if you fancy a change from the cheap delicious Thai foods.

“Regular visitors. Will be back again!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 August 2011

We have stayed at Baan Bophut twice and will certainly be back again. Excellent setting on the beach and close to great restaurants in Fisherman's village. Brilliant, friendly staff and perfect facilities for a relaxing break at great value for money.
