“Excellent Apartments - Want to go back”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 April 2010

We booked these apartments after a reccomendation froma family friend and travelled with my parents, brother and sister in law and my yougn nephew to the rocamar.

The apartments are quite far up the hill so i'd sya puerto rico is not a place for vertigo sufferers! but due to the location the views are excellent. Not only can you see right into the resort centre but also the beach and shopping areas!

The apartments themselves are quite big and had all the basics, tv fridge etc. The staff at these aprtments are what really shine thorugh though! The family that own the apartments work in the restaurant/bar area and the daughter woeks in the small shop. The restatruant wall is covered in photos of previous guests ( mainly scots! ) including snaps of the firend who reccomended.

The restaurant host various themed evening including a tribute act. The spanish Elvis impersonator really was somethin else!

After a few days here we got to know the staff and my brother and i were serving our own drinks at the bar!

The pool is very clean and is an excellent relief form the warm canary sun!

Overall a fantastic holiday and i would love to return but can't seem to find any operators using them now that seguro have gone bust!!

5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 August 2009

Great apartments, recently reburbished, good size pool, really friendly helpful staff, air conditioning in bedroom really was good! Puerto Rico really hilly and apartments ar half way up, so handy for going down or up, only about £2.50 in a taxi if you dont fancy the walk late at night.....

“Great for group of young people!”

I went to the Rocamar with a group of 6 friends aged between 17 and 18. Had a great time! It is modern, clean and very Scottish. The pool bar did good snack foods and was great for having a drink before heading out at night! The bar staff always put the karaoke if you asked!
The rooms were fine, quite basic but still suitable for self catering although you have to go down to reception to get any electricals like toasters, kettles. One of which managed to blow the fuse in our apartment but the handyman at recpetion was up within 5mins to fix it! Our air co was origanally broken but again once we said to recpetion it was fixed immediately, the only downside of it being the doors needed to be closed for it to work! One of the bed sheets in our room had a burn hole on it which wasnt changed the whole week we were there although it did say bed linin was only changed once a week. The rooms were still clean and adequate!
There is lots to do through the day and the rep has loads of trips you can go on, we mainly just hung about the pool and beach through the day although also got a boat at the harbour to a market. We also went to Aqualand waterpark which was a great day out! A recommended restaurant would be 'The Beachclub' down at the pier. Good bars in the Commercal centre are Harleys and Snoopys which close around 2am and the 2 main clubs stay open til 5ish, although don't go to the clubs before 2am, theyr empty! Watch out for some of the men in them too!!
Great taxi service up and down the hill for only 2 euro all night!
The Europa centre wasnt upto much when we went!
Overall a great holiday for a group of teenagers whove just left school!! :-)

  • Liked — Had aircon
  • Disliked — But the doors had to be shut for the airco to work!

“Back again to the Rocamar”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 August 2007

I have written a review for these apartments last year. My mum and I had a great time so we returned this year again. Seguro were on the news about their planes (skywings) running out of fuel etc..a week after we booked so we were quite nervous to say the least! Fortunately we didn`t have any problems with the flights at all but I cant speak for everyone at the place! Rocamar is still a lovely place to stay, but I`m a Puerto Rico fan. Some of the bottom apartments have been renovated with new bathrooms (which are beautiful) and with air conditioning in the living area AND bedroom area. (we had air con in the bedroom area but it only works when you shut the main doors!) Its a huge improvement though as it was unbearable without it. The towel wars were still taking place but while we were there rules were made so if you went down to the pool and all the sunbeds were taken but no-one was lying on them, you have the permission of the hotel to take the towels off and hand them into reception. It WAS getting a bit of a joke though! Food is bar food and cheap but you can come and go with the cook and order off the menu (e.g its fast food & breakfasts but he made a mixed salad for me). The weather was amazing... in the 90`s so beware! Mum and I had a few lovely meals. If you like Italian, you HAVE to go to Al Ponte in the centre commercial, its gorgeous. Oscars is really nice too, thats along beside Puerto Rico beach. We also liked Il pescador II for a juicy fillet steak! Amadores beach is worth going to, the sand doesn`t burn your feet which I was amazed by!! The Rocamar is still all Scottish holidaymakers so whether thats your cup of tea or not, its upto you. All in all, we had a lovely holiday and really enjoyed the Rocamar again.

  • Liked — the newly installed air conditioning and the weather of course!
  • Disliked — the 1 cockroach I saw & the loud teenagers that were staying.
