“We loved it and will certainly come back!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 August 2011

We enjoyed our stay and wished we could spend more time there. This old house in the vineyards is simply charming. It's a complete change of scene and time with all modern conveniences. Our room was large and had a view on the vineyards and the setting sun.The owner who is also a winemaker held a wine tasting for us and other clients. He gave us a lot of explaining too.
I advise you to choose this place for kindness of its owners, authenticity, tranquility, comfort and magnificent scenery.

“Beautiful Location and Comfortable Stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 June 2011

My sister, niece and I were happy to have found this B&B in the middle of the vineyards a short distance from St Emillion. And actually, finding it was our most challenging part of our entire trip...but one that we can use for one of the fun travel stories for the future. My gps wasn't recognizing the address, so I called and Alain answered and spoke little English, and I little French. So I got enough to know some basics. Then we stopped and my sister got assistance froma shop keeper who got us closer, then stopped again and a pharmacist got us to the correct road...where we found it! Once we got there, we were so pleased as it was right in the middle of the vineyards....so beautiful!

We had a very large room for the three of us and access to a ktichen down below. The beds were comfortable, but we really enjoyed the courtyard. We sat out there and relaxed after a busy day of sightseeing, and Alain was gracious to bring us a glass of wine (it was wonderful). The breakfast was the typical croissants/coffee/etc, which was perfect to start the day.

The location was really the best, as it was so close to all of the wine chateaus and St Emillion...but not in the middle of the action. Definitely would stay again.

“Lovely spot to linger”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 April 2011

We thoroughly enjoyed our two night stay here and wish only that we could have stayed a bit longer. The owners are lovely people who made every effort to ensure that we had a good visit and all the help we needed in navigating the area. You are not far from Bordeaux or St. Emilion so it's ideally located to tour either. Our room was the Art Deco room and it overlooks the vineyard with a neighbor's small chateau at the top. Truly a lovely way to start your day. The room was spacious and had an attached bath with shower. I saw other comments on Trip Advisor about the rooms not being clean, but we found everything to be in good order and very nicely done. Breakfast was coffee or tea, juice, croissant and jams in the dining room with lots of nice old furnishings and old beams. There is a patio if your schedule allows for some down time and the owners produce a very nice wine which is also available for purchase. Alain made a reservation for us at Bord D'Eau, just a 5 minute drive away. I would recommend this as an option for dinner since it was a memorable meal and there are not too many other options in the tiny village where the Closerie is located. We thank our hosts and hope to return another time.

“Great Place”

The Chateaux was lovely, very impressive. Unfortunately we tried to find it without a street map or Sat Nav and got lost!! However the owner kindly came to find us.

Unfortunately we did not get the room I booked as it had been allocated to someone else. It was still very nice but I was slightly dissapointed as I had booked it 2 months prior.

Breakfast was very nice and served on a table with the other guests.

“Wish we could have stayed longer”

We booked this hotel at the last minute on a road trip through France. Marie-Christine was very kind over the phone and was more than willing to book us for a night.

When we arrived Alain greeted us and showed us to our room. Our French is very bad and Alain spoke almost no english but he was very kind and made every effort to help us understand him. He recommended a wonderful restaurant in nearby St. Emilion and his directions were great.

Our room was lovely with a wooden beam ceiling and the prettiest bathroom I've ever seen. Even the toilet was pretty.

In the morning we were greeted with a simple breakfast of a huge crossaint, and coffee or tea and delicious grape juice.

Alain then took us on a small tour of their wine making facility and concluded it with a wine tasting.

Overall our stay was wonderful and it left me wishing we could stay longer.
