Calm area with great mountain view - beautiful Austrian landscape.

I booked an apartment on Easter Sunday because I could not stay an extra night in my hotel in Slovenia across the mountains. This is Carinthia, i.e. the holidaying region for middle and low-middle class Austrians plus some Germans.

At Easter it was reasonably not busy but very noisy because of non-stop (really - 7am to 9pm on Easter Saturday AND Sunday) skeet shooting - Osterschiessen) - they must be using triple powder load and in addition there is thundering echo. Anyway, nothing that the hotel can do about this.

We had a 55m2 apartment for 90EUR at night (low season last minute price), buffet breakfast (very well appointed) extra at 11EUR pp. THe apartment was well laid out and very clean (2 rooms, lounge, kitchen-corner). We just stayed one night but could see that there is plenty to do for families at the hotel, on the grounds, around the nearby larger lakes and by the small lake on the grounds. The water is cloudy, not dirty, but a nature of these swamp lakes I guess.

I would recommend this for its client base, and as a backup stopover, why not. Must be dreadfully busy in the summer though.
