For a B&B, the service is both friendly and very good quality. Both our hosts were approachable and willing to respond to enquiries.
By seating the guests around one large table, conversation is engendered; sometimes three languages are being spoken in separate conversations. Our thought is that Annette and Philippe benefit the business of repeat customers by recommendation many times over. On both our visits, the mixing of the guests has added to the experience; providing many an interesting conversation, between well travelled guests. Tips and recommendations on what to do and see can be garnered a plenty. Like many areas if life, you get out what you put in!
We felt there was excellent value in the optional evening meals; the food/wine served and especially the 'house' brut champagne, which in our opinion, stands favourable comparison to many of the more widely known brands that are far more expensive. As well as the brut, a pink champagne is also available as an optional extra.
My French is 'developing', but Philippe's command of English was most helpful, especially when explaining the make up of the evening meals in French and English. Thursday is Annettes 'day off' for cooking in the evening.
The room was very clean; plenty of hot water, the lighting is well thought out, the flooring was real wood, so a pair of slippers rather than high heels is the best option.
One has to be aware of the odd car coming around from a bend when entering the front gate of the property, which is on the corner of the road. The parking area was fine on our stay.
We felt our hosts had put a lot of thought and effort into making our stay a memorable one, which is why we returned in the Autumn (previous stay was in Summer 2008). Would heartily and highly recommend as a base to explore the Champagne Trail and surrounding region by vehicle.
