“Nice spot - shame about the booking issues”

It's hard to fault the location when you pull back the curtains in the morning and all you can see is beautiful blue water. The interior is also really nice, spacious and well laid out.

It has a great front deck with a nice little beach out the front however the problem was the wind blew directly onshore for the entire duration of our stay, so we didn’t use this deck once. I have since learnt that the trade winds blow from the South East throughout July & August (directly onshore at Rendezvous) & therefore we spent much of our time driving to the other side of the island which was sheltered. The back deck was also sheltered which is where we spent a lot of time. At this time of year, I don’t think I would recommend the Villas. Last time we visited Muri Beach it was in April and we had no problems with wind.

My main gripe however revolved around the booking system. Clearly reading other reviews, there is an issue with the Rendezvous Villas booking system. We booked for 5 nights + a late check out for which we paid additional for. A day before checkout we received 3 phone calls telling us that we had made a mistake with our booking and there were people due to arrive before we left. We were blamed for the stuff up and when I explained the late checkout had been arranged via email (including being paid for and flight detail provided), the response was that they were not privy to this information, despite us receiving confirmation from the reservations manager. In the end it didn’t adversely affect us but did leave a bit of a sour taste.

Despite these minor inconveniences, we still really enjoyed our stay and would recommend it, albeit with a few "howevers…”

“Great Villa in A Fantastic Tropical Paradise”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 August 2011

Just got back after a 5 day stay.

The villa was very well appointed, clean and well maintained - with pretty much everything you need for a luxurious, private and relaxing stay. Incl - large well furnished rooms, high quality fit out, well sized bedroom, very nicely appointed bathroom, aircon + ceiling fans, fully equipped kitchen, your own pool in private sheltered courtyard, a large comfortable lounge with flatscreen tv and surround sound system and a good sized deck overlooking the fantastic lagoon ie. absolute beachfront.

The villa is located on the beach and you can step off your private deck straight onto the white sand beach, with views of the sea/lagoon from basically every room. Waking and going to sleep with wthe sea lapping at the shore only metres away was great.

Location was also very private with a max of approx 8 or so people walking past on any given day. The beach - our beach! - was great for a swim, snorkel (lots of fish only a little way out) - there is coral in the lagoon - so reef shoes make it easier to get in/out of the water. Snorkel gear and kayaks are included with the villa.

Location is good also with shops, restaurants, car/scooter rental places and tour options close by ie. walking distance. Definitely recommend hiring a scooter so you can travel the raro way : )

The staff - Chad and Marisha - were polite, friendly and helpful. Transfers were included with our stay and we dropped into the supermarket on the way from the airport to the villa so we could do a little shop. Room was turned over on the 3rd day. We also took advantage of the late checkout for a small additional fee - which effectively gave us the best part of another day. Overall very happy with the service/staff.

Liked - The quality and privacy of the villa. The fantastic beachfront location.
Disliked - Nothing - other than having to leave. : )

Highly recommended.

“smart and luxurious accommodation, who would get sick of the swing chair!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 April 2011

Lovely place, ultra flash with lovely floors and really beautiful decorations. Lovely fresh flowers in the place and also given on arrival. When we walked in we were sooooo happy because everything looked amazingly beautiful. Not like some stark hotel room, rather a really lovely little house. It was really comfortable and a romantic place for us. Felt like kings living there.

All insect screened. Didn't see one bug at all in the place!!! That is very important to me as I hate bugs!!! It was extremely clean.

Huge bathroom with two sinks. Very comfortable bed. Lovely deck with a swing chair! Very spacious accommodation. Didn't use the pool much. Very private accommodation. Beach isn't sandy, it is coral so you can't swim there. But you can walk about 2 minutes down the beach and there is a sandy spot. The benefit of having the coral is that not many people walk past so it is very private. The deck is AWESOME, huge deck with banana lounger seats, and table and chairs, and the swing seat. Would sit out there all day just swinging away.

It has a fully equipped kitchen, ultra flash. It was awesome!

The only thing I would comment on is I would have preferred to know a specific time that the cleaners were coming. On a romantic weekend away you don't want to be caught un-awares! or in underwears! Apart from that, everything was brilliant.

The only thing with the location is that you get alot of wind around that size of the beach. That is nice because it cools you down, but it is a bit annoying if you wanted to kayak or see the fish in the water.

Definitely recommend.

“Great ammenities and privacy!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 January 2011

My wife & I booked a 6 day trip to Rarotonga for our 30th wedding anniversary after seeing a great deal in Budget Travel magazine. The villa was everything we were looking for. Laid back in the island-style but with all the ammenities. Mr. D met us at the airport at 7 AM on a Monday and we were able to get right into the villa and stay until time to go to the airport at 10 PM the Saturday following; so the 5-night package was really 6 full days. We had a delicious fruit platter and the fixings for a meal there when we arrived. The villa must have been about 800 square feet with a big deck right on the beach and and a very private front garden area with our own personal plunge pool. The Muri beach area is the best swimming, kayaking, and snorkling area on the island and the villa provided the snorkling gear and the kayaks. Often when we were on the beach we seldom saw another group of people and the beach is about as classic "Robinson Crusoe" as you can get with white sand and swaying coconut palms all around the island. Everything is imported here in the middle of the South Pacific but if you like tropical fruit and fish like we do there is plenty of reasonably priced stuff to eat! If you want night life and casinos this is not the place to go; but if you want a tropical island experience like Hawaii was 50 years ago then Rendezvous Villas in the Cook Islands provides it.

“Fabulous, wonderful and romantic”

After travelling from New Zealand on our honeymoon we arrived at 1am to be greeted warmly and happily but to a little bad news. The luxury honeymoon villa we had booked to top off our month long trip was not available. We were not best please having all the stress of the wedding and travelling for a month, we were really looking forward to ultimate relxation. We were put up in another, less superior villa for that night and for the next night. I can only imagine that they had another booking overlapping slightly and didn't want to turn it down. We did make a complaint and were pleased that we weren't charged at all for our first two nights. A nice gesture I thought and wanted to mention it here to be fair. Apart from that our stay was fablous, the villa is amazing and I can only highly recommend it. It was one of the best times of our lives and can't wait to go back!
