“The true crown jewel of the Cook Islands”

I have just returned from a nine day stay in the Beachside Villa. To say the Villas were beautifully appointed would be an understatement. From the cool marble floors to the enormous net draped beds, stunning glass showers overlooking your own gardens and peaceful waterfall pool. The staff are always more than helpful and very friendly. Close, easy walk to restaurants or cafe's; it's a perfect place to meditate, rejuvenate and relax. Can't strongly suggest the Spa treatments enough. These ladies certainly know how to make you feel truly pampered. Would highly recommend Rumours to anyone.

Room Tip: Beachside Villas have 50m walk to beach but are protected from strong beach winds.

“Wonderful time”

Had a lovely time here at Rumours in July. We stayed at the Spa Villas about 500 metres down the road from the main Rumours villas location. There are two villas at this location with the Spa right alongside. We much preferred this location as it was very quiet, the view was fabulous over the reef and uninterrupted out to the ocean.and the deck area a whole lot more private. People walking along the beach cannot see up into the villa deck area as easily as at the other villas and the beach is less busy. Snorkeling right out in front is lovely though still a little rocky to walk into with the coral right in close but it is an easy stroll along the beach to very sandy alternatives without having to contend with the resort population and kids in the more heavily frequented lagoon area . The villa is gorgeous with great kitchen and facilities, kayaks, hot tub looking over the ocean, DVD's not new but good.

Its well serviced and cleaned daily with a good breakfast delivered to self cook. It is a little monotonous in ingredients but that's a small complaint. Private pool is lovely though not heated so a little cool to get into but would be great in the more humid months. We swam regardless in it twice a day. At the spa villas this pool area is also in the more sheltered and sunny side of the villas which is great as the ocean side although spectacular, is also open to the wind which can be frequent and is shady which is good in humid months but a little cool maybe for July when we were there. All we all we have a lovely time and would return again. Of the 2 spa villas we had number 7 which I think is the better of the two regarding sun out the back and privacy/quiet.

One criticism: I do think for the cost, wifi should be free.

“Private ocean escape”

A beautiful resort on one of the best beaches in Rarotonga. The private pool and waterfall in each room gives you an escape when you want it. The rooms are also well appointed if you want to do your own cooking and several great places to eat are just a beach walk away. The two rooms are well spaced and work well if you wanted to share your stay with friends. With only a few guests staying at any one time the resort is quiet and peaceful. We really recommend taking advantage of the spa on your last day at Rumours as the perfect way to finish off your holiday. We hope you enjoy it as much as we did.

“Most amazing honeymoon in paradise!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 August 2011

We stayed here for a week on our honeymoon in July 2009 before heading over to Aitutaki for a week and I must say this has been the most AMAZING holiday we have ever been on to date!!!

We were picked up promptly by our pre-arranged driver who took us to a small bungalow near our accommodation whilst our villa was being prepared (we landed before 9am local time so it was understandable that we would not be able to check in straight away). A breakfast had been prepared for us and left in the fridge which was perfect. We were then shown to our villa which was absolutely stunning!!! It was massive for just the two of us with an extra bedroom with huge bathroom, balcony etc upstairs. We had a massive monsoon shower bathroom downstairs and a gorgeous terrace on our very own part of Muri beach - totally and utterly INCREDIBLE!!! The beach was gorgeous with the whitest sands and most turquoise waters. We even had our very own pool and small waterfall in the front garden on the other side, which we didn't end up using because we were constantly drawn to the waters on Muri beach. The reef was stunning and great for some daily kayaking (kayaks were provided and could be found on our beach outside the villa).

We were delivered breakfast every morning with a fresh fruit smoothie and we would usually go out for lunch and dinner. We even had our own private chef come and cook us a three course meal one evening with champagne on our terrace (at an extra charge) - it was truly magical and definitely worth every penny.

There was a spa right by our villa where we were given a complimentary full body massage - it was fabulous and the masseuse was very good.

We hired a car from a nearby car rental which is highly recommended - the island is very small and it's great to take the car inland off the beaten track up to the mountainous regions - the views were utterly breathtaking! Having said that, it's very easy to walk into town or there are cheap buses which also stop along the road - just be careful when walking on the road at night as there are no pavements to walk on and no street lights!

We would highly recommend going to Trader Jacks in town, we tended to go there almost every evening for cocktails, the bar staff there were amazing and the atmosphere was fab. Rarotonga is a very quiet island with not much to do but relax and enjoy the exceptional natural beauty of the place, but Friday nights are the night to go out and party! We started off at Traders and went on to Whatever Bar before heading onto a club next door - it was fantastic dancing under the stars and the locals are sooo friendly!

All in all, it was the most memorable stay EVER and I will genuinely remember this for the rest of my life... Counting down the days until we go again!!!!!

Room Tip: We had one of the two villas that are right on Muri beach (not beside the beach)
