“Lived up to expectations and more”

Just back from first holiday in Tenerife. We always avoid wall to wall entertainment and prefer adults only, quiet holidays which seems difficult to find in Tenerife and is why we have never been before. We seemed to have found what we wanted in the Salome part of the Anthelia Hotel during February 2012 and will return to this hotel. Everything was just perfect, including the weather. A lot of our friends are also looking for low key but good quality holidays and we will be recommending the Salome part of Anthelia to them (one couple are already looking to come in a couple of weeks).

The food was really excellent and we could only probably stay for a week as we would not fit into the seats on the flight home if we stayed longer! Choice and quality of food was tremendous in the large buffet area. Tried the two restaurants as well which were nice for a change, but preferred the buffet really. Tables were nicely set with fresh white linen and nice glasses and spaced out well. Staff were very efficient and friendly, clearing the tables immediately a plate was finished with. Freddy was particularly helpful over the choice of wine. Our room was lovely with a view over the pool and the sea. The pool was very warm with masses of towels available. Sunbeds free and comfy.

Only one complaint, despite having little treats delivered to the room (which were very nice) we would have preferred a knock on the door before entering rather than someone just barging in to deliver said treats! Could have been very embarrassing!

Room Tip: All rooms in the Salome part of the Hotel seem to have a sea view and balcony or terrace with sun lo...

“Good place to stay but not cheap”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 February 2012 via mobile

We stayed here for a week.

Pros:
The grounds are meticulously kept. The staff is very helpful and friendly. The breakfast buffet has the largest selection I've ever seen with good quality including cava, jamon iberico, smoked salmon, fresh fruit and fruit juices, etc.
The location of the huge unheated saltwater pool is very nice.
Live entertainment.

Cons:
Soundproofing of the rooms is not 5-star, especially the sound of anything that moves on the tiled floors (vacuum cleaning, luggage) is very loud.
The beds are a bit too hard.
It is not cheap.
In our room you could hear the live entertainment (until 11pm) even with the window closed.

We were upgraded from Iberostar Torviscas Playa and thus paid 40% less than the normal rate. For the same low rate we would definitely stay here again.

Dear Guest,

Thank you for sharing such a good comment about your stay in Iberostar Anthelia. Your enthusiasm in describing the facilities of our hotel is really appreciated and will help other people finding more information about Anthelia.

Concerning the sea view, we would like to remark that we dispose of various categories of rooms corresponding to different view ranges, namely those with balcony on the first floor that are ideal for families with children, or higher sea view balconies that are really appreciated among our guests that look for a calm and quiet stay.

It would be a pleasure to welcome you once again, if you are planning to spend your next holiday in our hotel.

Best regards,

“Very nice family holiday”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 February 2012

In October 2011 I spent 10 nights in a family room with my husband and our almost 3 year old twins. We booked half board directly through the hotel. It was the cheapest option – I did spend a lot of time on internet. Before arrival, we got an email with the map of the hotel to choose the room. The choice was not big but it was a very pleasant surprise.

I will concentrate on commenting on what I find important for families with children.

Rooms and bathrooms: Nice and clean. It was very helpful to have two bathrooms. What I found difficult was the sleeping arrangement. First, there are two single beds put together. The beds moved every time someone sat on them, so always a big gap, especially when you are trying to get two kids dressed. Additionally, we had to push the two beds all the way to the wall so the children would not fall from the bed at night. To sleep on those moving beds I found very difficult. Note: locking the wheels did not make too much difference.

Food: My children are not good eaters who apart from pasta don’t find anything else interesting. For dinner, the restaurant had one person preparing about three different pasta types (every day different) with about 10 (if not more) different ingredients to choose from. Apart from that there is always enough fries and rice. Also, the fruit corner was looking so delicious that even my children asked for fruit almost every night after dinner. There was also a good choice of yoghurts available for dinner as well. Service was great but just be aware of sweets which are put on the dinner table for children during dinner; whilst this is a very nice touch, it’s not very good when you want your fussy children to eat the food…

Pool: Fantastic! The shallow part is really big, safe and very suitable for small children. We arrived a few days before the half term and there were always several sun beds available, even 4-5 together. During half term it got little bit more difficult especially in the afternoon, as I think that people would leave for lunch and left their towels on the sun beds. But the life guard was always happy to run around the whole swimming pool area and bring few sun beds for us.

Playground: Unfortunately in the hot sun. The sand was too hot even to try to get to the slides. Unless it is cloudy, you won’t be able to enjoy it at all.

Reception: Spacious and impressive. All staff members are extremely helpful.

Overall, the bedrooms are not 5 star standards. But the restaurant, reception, pools, bars, gardens and most importantly the staff make the difference and are definitely worth the 5 stars.

“Paul & Natalie”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 January 2012

Just returned from 1 weeks stay at hotel. It was lovely weather at the time so couldnt complain about that, the area around the hotel was lovely too. The hotel was beautiful and clean, the staff were very friendly and helpfull and luckily for us they all spoke very good English. The food at breakfast was very good and probably something for everyones taste, We ate very healthy each day. The evening buffet was very good too with something different each evening. We swapped 2 of the evenings for the Itlalian restaurant 1 night and al a carte the other night which were both good. Our room was cleaned to a high standard every morning which was great to come back to each afternoon. Overall we had a great time at this hotel and would definately recommend it.

Room Tip: We had a Balcony with a sea view which was excellent with good views around the complex.

Dear Paul and Nathalie,

Fist of all I would like to thank you so much for writing such a nice review about your stay at the Iberostar Anthelia, I am sure that it will help future guests to make their decision easier.

I am delighted to see that you enjoyed a pleasant holiday among us. We really appreciate your assessment of Zeus restaurant in which we try to offer a full buffet, with a wide choice of dishes and a high quality cuisine. We also work hard to improve our restaurants à la carte: Poseidón, a Canarian nouvelle cuisine, and Portofino, our Italian restaurant. We are delighted that you enjoyed both.

Let me emphasize that for us the best satisfaction is to read that the most notable asset we have is the kindness and attention of our staff as this means that we have meet the most important principle of Iberostar.

Thank you again for you comments. Do not hesitate to contact me if you are planning to visit us again. It would be a great pleasure for me to greet you personally.
