Everything the other reviews said about the pleasure of staying here is true! I'm so glad we chose this small property for our time here. It is far enough away from the bustle of Gerome and Urgup, to really feel like we were getting a genuine experience of rural Turkish village life, rather than a touristic commercial experience. The drive to the sites was never a problem, and we saw some areas that otherwise might have felt too far from the main action.
Okan, our host was always ready to greet us with a smile when we arrived, and with answers to our questions, directions to off-the-beaten-track sites, and cultural information. We really enjoyed his willingness to discuss history, current events, sustainability, cuisine, farming . . . anything that came up.
The public space overlooking the town was inviting and one of the highlights of my six week trip was sitting there watching unseasonably early snow fall. My husband's highlight was walking around the town, seeing village life and talking with a local stone mason - with Okan's assistance as a translator.
The food was wonderful - truly a highlight of the trip. We eat seasonally, locally, usually from our own garden or CSAs at home, and it was a delight to enjoy home cooked, home grown foods. Every meal was great and very generously proportioned!
Okan's advice was spot-on from the first email he sent in reply to my inquiry to the advice to check out the farmer's market in Urgup as we left.
We are used to TemperPedic beds at home, so the surface of the mattress was a bit firm for us, but it is comparable to almost every other hotel bed. Please don't let that only minor reservation keep you from the stay of a life-time!
