“Deep in Earthly Pleasures”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 January 2012

This hotel is altogether exceptional, with not only an extraordinary site (a sanctuary in all senses of the word), but also guest rooms carved deep into the earth thousands of years ago, rooms used by religious brotherhoods and, before them, by Hittites. The hotel has preserved the original shapes of the rooms, changing little but the comfort, so that there is a fidelity to former functions both rare and altogether unique. The hotel's owner, Mr. Ibrahim Bastutan, began modestly with a vision, prompted by the sanctity of the place. Since its birth roughly a dozen years ago, the hotel has grown into the friendliest, most attentive and congenial of resting places. The staff could not be more alive, helpful, accommodating, and hard-working. And the food is local, prepared with the greatest of care and attention. Bravo and encore Bravo Mr. Bastutan.

Room Tip: All rooms are commodious, but some have fireplaces that attendants light with butane torches.

This hotel was amazing! We couldn't think of one bad thing to say about it.
Pros: the room was immaculate and the staff couldn't have been more friendly and welcoming.
-the food was delicious, especially the pottery kebab and the fresh bread at dinnertime.
-we had an upgraded room due to being there during the "low season" and stayed in the Eagles Nest room. This room was huge, with a front sitting room, a huge bathroom with large shower and jacuzzi, and a king size bed with towels folded into swans everyday!
-the drivers were nice and good at navigating to and from town. Given that the hotel is outside of town, the drivers are more than willing to take you anywhere you want to go at anytime!

In a sentence: whoever dreamed up wi-fi and a jacuzzi in a cave? I love whoever envisioned this place!

Loved every inch of the hotel and our stay. Incredibly cosy..the flooring is heated! Makes a trip to the bathroom more enjoyable esp when weather was -10 outside. Incredible decor-you won't believe its a cave. Possibly the most interesting and beautiful room ive ever stayed at. Was a bit disappointed because we only stayed one night-checked out at 5am the next morning and so wasnt able to relish morning breakfast and soak in daylight views of the surroundings. Excellent service-we were greeted with complimentary alcoholic drinks upon arrival! Def a must visit and must sta
