“Coziness and location make Morfeas a great choice!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 September 2011

We came here on a mini-holiday looking for a change of scenery from Athens. We wanted to stay someplace near the beach, well-equipped, and with nice, calm surroundings. Besides choosing to visit Sifnos, staying at Morfeas made it all the better!

The pension is clean, simple, but very pleasant. It is very close to Kamares, one of the best beaches on the island. The room was cozy with plenty of space, a refrigerator (plus cups, utensils, plates), and AC (there was a nice breeze at night, just used the mosquito repellant they provided). Best of all, it had a charming little balcony where one could lounge. After a day at the beach, it was nice to come back to the room and relax while taking in the surroundings. I particularly enjoyed the change of scenery as I prefer the mountains. Overall, the room and garden made us feel like we were going home, rather than to a hotel room.

Morfeas is a really great value. We were very happy with it and will definitely return someday.

Hora (the main city) is way too hot for daytime in the summer, so choosing a place to stay near the sea was a good choice. People swim, eat, drink, and relax during the day and flood the main towns after sunset, and Morfeas, like other beach-side hostels, works well for that.

“The perfect place in Kamares, Sifnos”

We had a most wonderful stay at Morfeas. The pension is situated in a quiet location a few minutes walk up the beach and across the road from the buzz of the main row of seaside tavernas and cafes. We stayed with our two baby twins in an apartment consisting of a bedroom with one double and one single bed plus a kitchen/dining room with a sofa bed. Also, we had a large partly covered balcony with a nice view to the mountains and town. The place is simple but well functioning, and it is well maintained and kept outstandingly clean. Floors were washed every day, and linens and towels were changed several times during our 10 days stay. The manager, Kostas, is extraordinary caring and friendly. When one day we asked if we could borrow his washing machine to wash our clothes, he instead had the girl to do it for us, and, on the day of leaving, he took us to the ferry by his car and even had a small gift for us.

Kamares is a seaside town situated at a lovely, well sheltered bay with sandy beach all around. The water is rather shallow making it an ideal place for families. The town itself is typical cycladic with two or three storeys white cubic houses. It is a fairly small but popular destination for Greek and other European tourists alike, and nothing much is going on besides swimming, eating, and drinking There are plenty of tavernas and cafes, a handful of bakeries or bread outlets, a couple of mini markets, lots of pottery workshops, a large playground, and a tiny little church.

Pros: quiet but central location, 100m from the beach, spotless clean, very friendly and helpful management, large balcony (at least to the apartments). The price: a real bargain.

Cons: no sea view from our apartment (but a lovely view to the mountains and town).

“We've been back and will come again!”

We stayed at the Morpheas Pension last year and Sifnos is the only island we chose to visit again this year. Morpheas was the easiest part of that decision. (We have also visited Paros, Milos, Naxos, Santorini, Rhodes, Mikonos, Folegandros, and Serifos.)
Kostas and his family and staff are incredibly friendly and accommodating. The room we get (#9) is small, but has a balcony that overlooks the sea and affords a beautiful view of the mountains.
Our room had AC, a TV (which we never used) a small fridge, and a kettle with cups, saucers, plates and bowls. In other words, you can easily make yourself a continental breakfast in the morning, and keep a cold beer in the fridge before you head into town for dinner.
The beach is right across the road, about 60 m through a bamboo grove.
The port town of Kamares is about a 5 minute walk from the hotel - you have the convenience of the stores and restaurants without the noise.
Make sure you try "Da Claudio" and "The Cameron", which are side by side on the road into the port. Absolutely first rate food, and wonderful owners/staff.

“Unbeatable!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 June 2011

"NORDICBARE" is back with more comments about this wonderful and magestic island and its accomodations.
Morfeas, not a very old pension on this island,in terms of establishment but one great offer to the sometimes"biting"rates of some pensions and hotels here.
Well located on the main street to Agia Marina,a stone's cast from Kamares, with a lovely garden loaded with colorful flowers and overlooking a maze of a bamboo bush curtain blocking the view to the bay if you are unfortunate to be lotted a room on the ground floor. The very clean and comfortable rooms(leaving the beds out, which I think the matrasses are a bit on the hard side),are a bargain indeed!
The owner,Kostas Kambourakis, and his personel, very friendly and accomodating to our every minor need.

Room Tip: Come early..avoid August.Say a friend sent you.

“Amazing Value, decent location and peace”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 February 2011

Read good reviews about Morfeas on here decided to book it. The Price we were quoted was amazing for what we got. Our Room had a balcony that overlooked Morfeas's amazing well kept garden, and a back window that opened up to the mountains. There is also a fridge, small tv and internet access (which we could only get from the balcony).

The Pension is about 100 yards from the port beach. Which was a decent beach. And about a 2 minute walk to the port town of Kamares.

George (I assume the owner) is an extremely nice man. Picks you up from the port and makes sure you are happy.

I would recommend this Pension a hundred times over. Great Value.
