On our way to Sarlat-la-Caneda we decided to spend the night at the Mercure Correze La Seniorie.
Locating this hotel was confusing, even following their instructions. It is out of the way, driving along a river through wooded areas. To get to the reception you have to enter the covered parking, hoping the garage will open, and then take the elevator to the lobby. High on a hill overlooking the town, it has a lovely setting. Feels like a Grand Manor. Our superior room #18 was vast; it had a sitting area and a dining area, with several windows with of view of town. Free wifi and a coffeemaker was provided. The spacious bathroom had been remodeled with new fixtures and granite countertops. However, this beautiful room deserves a new King size bed. The one it had now has seen better days, it only has supports at the sides, and non in the middle making it very uncomfortable to sleep, as mattresses sagged in the middle. Staff was friendly and spoke English. Breakfast was a treat, Buffet style with a sample of delicious breads, cheese, ham and lots of coffee. The sleepy town of Correze is peaceful to walk around.
