The Douglas Hotel is in the heart of Langholm, an interesting small town in the Scottish Borders. It's worth going out of your way to stay or eat here. The hotel punches above its weight in terms of food; the menu is unpretentious with emphasis on quality and presentation rather then frills. Local produce and home-made dishes are the orders of the day. The hotel and restuarant are both well managed, and we thought attention to detail was above average.
Our bedroom was very comfortable and fairly recently upgraded, with a large bed and an attractive en-suite shower-room. The welcome tray was generous.
