I chose to stay at the Pheasant Inn because I was on a training course in Wokingham. Of the accommodation choices this seemed to be reasonably priced for what you get.
The location is quite good. On a main road between Wokingham and Reading, 4 minutes walk to Winnersh rail station, 1 minute walk to bus stop for route 190 and only a 35 minute walk to Wokingham. Also Sainsbury's is just across the road.
On arrival they asked me to pay the full bill on check in for the entire 5 nights. Although I realise they have to cover themselves I'm never convinced this is a great welcome.
The room itself was a reasonable size and was clean. It has a basic TV which picks up the usual 5 channels. The TV has an alarm clock but because your key has to be inserted into a slot to get power to work in the room, you have to constantly keep programming the clock on the TV.
The room includes a trouser press but lacks a radio. Wifi is offered but in room 12 the signal was weak which annoyed me as I kept getting disconnected.
Breakfast is a small selection of cereals followed by fry up and toast. If you want anything like croissants forgot it. The fry up quality is pretty good. Tomatoes looked pretty miserable, and mushrooms were sliced too thinly, but the quality of the bacon and eggs surpassed my expectation.
In overall terms, there is nothing wrong with this place, but there is nothing special. If your on business in the area this is a good accommodation choice at a good price. I would stay at the Pheasant Inn again.
