The Hotel Klaster Tepla gets four stars from me, not because of the hotel rooms or the restaurant, but for its location. Built on the abbey grounds with a church dating from the 1100s and an incredible library , the kloster hotel is built in the refurbished barns/stables of the monastery. What a place to visit. It's only 14K from Marianske Lazsne (formerly Marienbad), but in another world entirely. One feels transported to another place, another time. There is a park that's starting to be rebuilt and a golf course. The bike rental advertised on the website was nonexistant unfortunately. The hotel rooms are ordinary, but large enough and clean; reception was very friendly. Unforunately, the food in the restaurant, except for breakfast, was decidedly disappointing. Plus, we had a waiter with zero personality! The restaurant experience was rescued by a friendly young woman at breakfast which was standard. [--]
