By western european standards, the hotel was very basic. However, you get what you pay for and at the room rate (equivalent to a youth hostel bed in Germany) you get a small, clean, basic room in a re-built monastry building. Mostly the hotel seems to be catering to coach tours of pilgrims and stuff.
Other parts of the monastry still await restauration, as a guided tour demonstrates, but you should still take the tour to see the inside of the church and other buildings.
Breakfast was simple but OK, evening meals were cheap and plentiful. Beware: The rstaurant closes at 2200h, the kitchen at 2100h. Since we frequently came back late (we used the hotel as a base for a week´s golfing in western bohemia), we had to factor that in, especially since not much else exists in teh surrounding area in terms of towns with restaurants or nightlife.
Communication was in a mixture of limited German and English, but the basic messages came across.

Minor gripe: I could only connect to the advertised WLAN in the parking lot at the back of the building :-)
