I went to Kasauli with my husband and another couple who we are friends with. We booked Kasauli Castle online and werent sure if we should choose Kasauli Resort, Castle or Regency. I believe all 3 are owned by the same people but are very different. Briefly, Resort is a huge property with many rooms - have heard good reviews but typical large resort not a small cozy place. Regency is a very small building with rooms that have no balconys! In Kasauli THAT is criminal. We could see Regency from our room in Castle and were sooo glad we didnt book it.
Now coming to Kasauli Castle, this place has 15 rooms, we stayed at the Super Deluxe which had a view of the lawns where movies/ music is played on a large screen at night. We were dreading this but quite enjoyed the background music while sitting in our room eventually.
The rooms are fine, clean sheets, bathrooms, hot water, except the carpet which smelled musty and looked a little dirty. But not a big deal at all.
The food was good, stick to basics - we only had Indian - hot tandoori rotis with chicken, paneer, vegetable dishes and dal. We were on a package which included breakfast and dinner buffet. We ordered snacks/ tea to the room which were served promptly. The service here was exemplary, courteous and prompt staff across.
Now if it is raining outside, you could choose to sit in your balcony and sip tea (which you cant do in Regency) or avail of the many recreational options available at the resort.
There is a TT room, carrom board, Billiards table, Ice hockey and XBoX Kinect! We had a ball playing all these. If you have little kids there are swings, see saw, a slide etc. as well.
The resort is located at a distance of 3 km by the main road (car can go) and 1.5 km by a walking route from the Lower Mall road. The walk from the resort is steep uphill and very picturesque. A good option for those interested in having an active holiday.
All in all a great option amidst quiet and if you are not looking for a fancy resort in Kasauli!
