Booked with Rocket Ski, using their website, so didn't speak to anyone on the phone. Everything went through smoothly on the website and the rest of the travel. It wasn't the same carrier to (Easyjet) and fro (Monach), so car was parked in Gatwick North Term and got back to the South Term. The Clubhotel is in Le Bez, short walk to Villeneuve.
On the whole if you are not expecting too much, it is good value for money. However, there was no afternoon tea and more disappointingly no coffee or tea after dinner. They expected you to go to the bar and pay for it. We took our own kettle along to make tea in our room. There was always a vegetarian option for dinner, wine had to be purchased separately. The bar manager takes your order before dinner and serves it at the table. The tea for breakfast was in heat proof pots, so if you are later in the morning, you would get very strong tea, unless you ask for it to be made again. I would rather have tea bags and make the tea myself. Staff were given Thursday eve/night off.
The rooms were adequate and clean with a towel change mid week. Beds were made very day. We only had a shower (a bit of mouldy grout). A socket was hanging off the wall but these things didn't bother us and we didn't get electrocuted. Location was ski in and out but the weather was very hot and the run back to the hotel was extremely slushy and hard work. A 1 or 2 week skier wouldn't get down it. You can take the gondola back down but it is a bit of an uphill walk back. There is a small drag lift for children next to the gondola that takes you up half way back up the slope so it cuts the walk in half but it was a struggle at this time of year (end of March). There is a 12 seater mini bus that comes along near the gondola and takes you close to the Clubhotel but we never managed to see it come our way.
We could only ski down halfway to Briancon as the snow was bad but we did manage to ski down to Chantemerle. The snow was best at Monetier. If you ever ski that way, you must have lunch at Peyra-Juana via the Rochamount blue run. The restaurant looks like a shack but it's quite unique and staff friendly. The snow on the runs above Villeneuve were fine. The buses to the other resorts were regular, around 20mins apart but night buses were over an hour apart.
The Clubhotel has an in house ski rental (a couple of doors down). The skis are ok but the boots could be better and if you can't find a pair of boots that fit, you could get a voucher off them and go to another ski rental for the boots.
Internet was 3 euro a day or 10 euro a week. It wasn't always reliable and only from some rooms on 1st floor, the reception and bar area. It was adequate for what we needed.
One of the reps was fine but the other could have been a bit more attentive and friendlier. I won't mention names here. We weren't told that there was a market on the Tuesday. The reps didn't tell us much, although there was info at reception and you would need to find out yourself. There was no ski guiding offered.
There were a few noisy people late in the night but the school party was fine and had meals in the second restaurant an hour before the main sitting.
We were offered to stay on another week for only £99 as they wanted to fill the rooms. We were told a day before departure. They would have rescheduled our flights, so all we needed was to get another week's lift pass and rental. Unfortunately we couldn't take up the offer.
All in all, a good low budget ski holiday.
