Stayed in The Karystion in September 2006. We turned up and got a room on spec. at a very good rate, which included an excellent breakfast, served on the lovely terrace. Downstairs facilities are very good, and the rooms are fine by Greek standards. Get a room with a sea view. They serve food throughout the day and the quality is high. The taverna next door is good for lunch too. Hotel location is great. Just on the edge of town, so no noise, and right beside one of the beaches. All staff were incredibly nice and helpful. The exception was Anna, who I can only assume is the owner's daughter, because otherwise she would be out of a job. Everyone else more than compensated for her grumpy manner.

My wife and I first stayed in the Karystion in August 1994 whilst having a property built nearby.We have returned on numerous occasions to enjoy the hospitality of the owners ie. Charis and Aris who are more than willing to assist guests to enjoy their stay
In fact they are typical of the Greek people of Karystos and go that extra mile to accomodate guests.Both my wife and I have recommended this hotel to numerous people who have wanted to sample real Greece but in Hotel accomodation. This has resulted in quite a number of them returning year after year, some even twice a year. One family from New Zealand wrote back to me after their first visit to the Hotel and Greece and said it was the best holiday they had had. The Hotel is in a beautiful setting looking out over the bay towards the Island of Kea in close proximity to several beaches and just a short walk to the harbour of Karystos where visitors have numeours choices of tavernas.
I would certainly recommend this hotel to anyone who has had enough of package holidays and who feel they are confident to make the trip to karystos on their own. The staff are extremely courteous and after a short time with them you feel you are part of the family and belong.
