“Good hotel in quiet place”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 October 2011

We spent 9 days here in October 2011. We had a nice room with en suite and kitchenette, useful for drinks/snacks. A balcony over looking the garden, mountains and sea. Lovely sunsets.
The room was clean and spacious. Breakfast was good, but we found the evening meal a bit lacking in veg and variety. Portions were just adequate for us, small eaters. We did half board as euro countries have become expensive. We did eat out a couple of times, but you really need to hire a car here as it is quite isolated. The staff are helpful and friendly. The beach is 5 minutes away, although there is a lovely pool if you prefer. The Island was very green. Lovely scenery. Good for a quie restful holiday. Good value for money.

Room Tip: We had a first floor room ner the end of the suites overlooking next doors garden. Not overlooked.

“Just perfect!”

We stayed at Astra Village for the Whitsun holidays at the end of May and spent a wonderful week in beautiful sunshine. We wanted peace and quiet, with good food and time to relax and we had just that.
We were a little apprehensive before our stay with regards to the closeness of the airport but having visited I must agree with my fellow reviewers that if anything the planes were amazing to watch and in no way interupted the tranquility of the hotel. The benifits of being so close to the airport are many, more time at the hotel and less time in a warm bus!
Myself, my husband and our 12 year old daughter are all vegetarian and we ate like kings at the hotel. Prices were very reasonable and there was always choice particularly at lunch.We sat on the shaded terrace, cool breezes from the beach and ice cold beers served by delightful staff, particularly Caroline, what a lovely and interesting woman. Evening meals were just as delicious, taken by the pool, amazing views of the sunset and very good wine! Breakfast is a buffet of treats, from fruits, cheeses, olives, eggs, pastries the list goes on and on.....
The rooms were modern and really really spotless and had everything you would need to prepare snacks and a proper big fridge. To be honest by the time you bought the bits needed for lunch it was just the same to eat at the bar, and soooo much nicer.
We were 5 people eating lunch everyday and 5 evening meals and numerous ice cold beers, chocolate shakes and coffees delivered to our sunbeds and we paid around 500 euros at the end of our stay.(Breakfast was included.) Amazing!
The hotel is stunning, add on the lush pool, comfy sofas and amazing staff and you would not find a more beautiful place to spend a holiday. We will be returning!

Room Tip: All of the rooms are lovely, I would be happy in any of them.

“Great hotel in a sleepy place.”

Astra village is a very good/fine hotel.

The location is just 5min drive from the airportterminal, approx. 500m from the closest beach (Ammes Beach) and 6-7km from Argostoli. The place is called Svoronata, a very quite and a sleepy place. Not much to see.
So I recommend really to rent a car!

Don't worry about that the hotel is so close from the airport, there isn't much airtraffic and the last plane takes off/land 22.00 and afterwards the airport is closed for the night.

The staff are really nice and very helpfull!
The roomstandard is quite good. Looks new and cleaned.
Breakfast buffet is ok, but the half pension is just average in my opinion since you can't decied what kind of food you want to eat and the food quality is very varying.
There are two good resturants, right besides each other 800m from the hotel (300m south of Ammes beach).

If you are going to rent a car, be a bit aware and carefull.
Eks:
- Have an extra eye on those who drives scooter/bicycles, they are MAD! Since they are often passing on your RIGHT side in the traffic.
- A special trafficrule in Cephalonia (I think), is that you must give way to cars that are entering a roundabout.
-The road standard is not good. The roads there are very narrow, curvy and there are very few direction signs. So it is easy to get lost!

“lived up to very positive reviews”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 September 2011

We spent a week here September 2011 with our two young children. The hotel really lived up to the very positive reviews we had read, in that the service was very attentive and the whole place was spotless. The pool area really is a very relaxing place to lounge about. We also felt that the rooms were very well equipped with smart modern furniture and bathroom - ours was a family room which seemed a very good size; the food was excellent (we were bed and breakfast only but ate dinner at the hotel a couple of times) and very nicely presented. The setting is lovely, with the rooms in blocks of three or four, with quite a secluded feel because of the beautiful planting. We would also concur with other reviewers that the proximity of the airport did not cause any noise disturbance at all. For young children the swings and well equipped playroom were a welcome bonus. This is a very thoughtfully run family business and we would happily stay again.

Some small practical comments which may assist others planning a stay here:

-we stayed a week and didn't feel the need for a car at all as there are a couple of tavernas and a nice beach within easy walking distance; I think that if we had been staying for two weeks we might have wanted one for a bit of a change in the second week; it would have been easy to hire one through the hotel or the place across the road if needed;

-there was a useful shop across the road; it seemed quite low on stock but perhaps that was just because it was the end of season; for example they did not have the right size nappies for our youngest; otherwise it had most of the essentials;

-there is no laundry service at the hotel, but of course it is easy enough to buy washing powder from the shop and wash a few things in the sink;

-helpfully the hotel has a computer in the lobby, and you can pay to use the internet.

“Fantastic”

We stayed at the astra village with our children of 3 and 6. This is our second visit to the astra and we loved it as much as the first. The hotel is spotlessly clean, the staff friendly, the hotel peaceful and the location perfect.

The food in the restaurant is excellent and always well presented.

We have stayed in lots of hotels, but this hotel tops the lot. Most of all the peace and quiet you get on this holiday will make you feel relaxed and recharged.
