The castle is totally legit, 1000 old castle or maybe more but with modern installatins, hot water, tv, heater and the included breakfast is really good. The castle is indeed perfectly maintained and is gorgeous, specially the view from the yard where you can see the whole of the town and the magnificent Bavarian landscape, i recommend the hotel 100%

Only a stones throw away from Rothenburg Germany, this amazingly historical castle offers both a romanic getaway as well as tremendously attentive, personal service. Both the breathtaking views among the grounds of the castle to the splendid historical ambiance and decor, this castle offers more than an evenings stay. The reception area is truly a snapshot from another era, adorned with the finest of decor that only 1000+ years can represent and the staff is by far the most attentive I've come across in years. Breakfast (included with the rooms), was delicious but I I highly recommend dining at the castle in the evening. Again, the decor is simply amazining as is are the numerous entrees offereed each evening. Note again, the service is fantastic!

The Hotel Burg Colmberg was chosen to provide a "castle" experience on a father and son tour through Germany. I did the planning for the trip and kept this location as a secret, wanting to surprise my father with a second castle stay. Since the main focus on this segment of our tour was to experience Rothenburg au der Tauber, it took a little explaining as to why I chose a location 15 km. east of Rothenburg. As we approached the city of Colmberg, my father spotted the castle on the hillside and the explaining was over.

We couldn't have been happier with our selection. The castle is rustic and provides a wondeful castle feel, with all the amenities one could want. Our room was the "Burgherr" a double room overlooking the valley. The room was quite spacious and the antique hand carved furniture added a nice feel to the room. The staff was very friendly and helpful and provided good recommendations on spending time in Rothenburg. We spent the afternoon in Rothenburg and truly enjoyed the experience of exploring the city. My original thought was to stay within the walls of the city, but after experiencing Hotel Burg Colmberg, I was so glad to have made the decision to stay outside of the city.

We had a wonderful dinner at the hotel, experiencing excellent service by the staff of the restaurant. The breakfast buffet the next morning had a good selection and provided a good start to our last day in Germany. If (or should I say when) I return to this area, the Burg Hotel Colmberg will be first on my list.

On our German vacation, I was determined to stay in a castle. Hotel Burg Colmberg was perfect! The hotel itself is very cool with lots of character, and the restaurant was awesome. The staff was very friendly and they provided a baby bed for my daughter (pack-in-play). There was free parking, as well as a playground outside. We loved our stay and would definitely come back.
