I stayed at this hotel for 9 days and arrived with no preconceptions about the place as there wasn't much information about it online. The hotel is a stones throw away from the main train station of Amadora (it can be seen from the platform) and it takes a stroll through a local garden/park to reach there.
Our room was on the second floor so there was no need for the elevator, which was tiny (only 2 people can fit in). The room wasn't anything fancy but it was clean and well lit by natural light which was most important. There was a tv, a shelf which ran behind the beds, a full length mirror and a closet. I was apprehensive at first about the shared bathroom facilities but it turned out to be fine. The shower/toilet was opposite our room and was cleaned everyday. I think there are two shower/toilet rooms to each floor because i never saw anyone using ours. My only gripe was that I had to carry soap back and forth whenever i went, as the cleaning lady would dispose of the soap I had left there. Each day our room was cleaned, ben linen was changed and we received new towels, soap and complimentry bottled water.
Included in the dirt cheap price was breakfast, which was taken in the cafe (which includes a full bar) adjacent to the reception. This was very simple, consisting of bread, preserves, a slice of cake and hot drinks/juice. Throughout the day, snacks and drinks could be bought. There was also a set lunch menu which was about 6euros.
The best thing about this hotel I would have to say is their staff. The actual owners are from Mozambique and the other staff came from varying backgrounds. They were very friendly and all of them spoke English (one of the guys working in the cafe spoke English, Italian, Spanish, French, and Arabic as well as Portuguese) They were extremely helpful and reccommended places and beaches to visit. My father often stayed up late in reception chatting to them.
The location is great. The city centre is only 10mins away by the train, which links to the metro (stops Sete Rios and Entrecampos) and the beautiful town of Sintra is only 25mins by train and well worth a visit. The surrounding area doesnt have much to offer in touristic terms but there is a small shopping mall which has a McDonalds, a small supermarket (Pingo Doce) and lots of cafes.
I loved staying here and will definately be back again!
