“Beautiful nature, individual and familiar athmosphere”

Situated approx. 1,5 hr from Haridwar - was it for us a wonderful opportunity to get away from the loud city. The owner Manoj received us very warmly and we felt like at home. People who are interested in nature and oberservation of various animals will find here the right place and be glad to get a lot of information, especially on rare specious of Birds by Manoj, a trained Biologic. The eco-lodge is situated in the National Park Rajaji around 20min from the main entrance near to the river. Safaris can be organised. For all who are seeking a quiet place, in untouched nature with only a few farmhouses around. Very good accomodation and individual service. It's not luxurious though, but pure and comfortable, all designed very sophisticated with some details from Rajasthan. The interesting conversations about Indian culture and nature made this stay for us unforgettable. Excellent and yummy food especially for people with sensible stomach.
There are also opportunity for Yoga classes and Meditation which we didn't use.. Please find soon a detailed report and pictures on our blog (in German language) >> http://noraandjim.wordpress.com

“Wild Brook - Fantastic Stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 July 2010

My fiance and I stayed at Wildbrook in May of this year and our only complaint was that we did not have a longer stay. After 4 trips to India this accommodation was the most peaceful place we have stayed. The property is directly adjacent to Rajaji National Park and due to that you get very interesting wildlife coming onto the Wild Brook property like Jackals, Hornbills and many other interesting birds.

Manoj the owner and his employees provided fantastic service. We felt very much at home. Manoj, a birding expert, also took us on a bird walk in the morning where he showed off his bird identification expertise. He has spent years in the field, working with the India Bird Survey and hearing his stories were absolutely fascinating. He is passionate about conservation.

The rooms are very clean and the design of the property fits very nicely into the surrounding flora and nature. The bed was comfortable and the patio very relaxing. The food was also very excellent as the owner's wife has trained the cooks to work with all organic ingredients and cook very healthy as she is a nutritionist.

Because of the remoteness, finding Wild Brook is a bit difficult so I recommend using one of the Lodge's drivers to pick you up from a nearby city. Also be prepared for a bumpy ride into the lodge. But the trip was very worth it.

For anyone who loves nature and peaceful getaways, I highly recommend staying at Wild Brook.

Greg

“down to earth and soothing”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 June 2010

Our holiday at Wild Brook was a sudden transportation to another zone that, thankfully, time seemed to have forgotten. Reaching Wild Brook is in itself an adventure and the last part of a 7 hour journey from Delhi involves actually driving 12 km through a dried up river bed - come the rains Wild Brook literally returns to the wild , being cut off by the fury of the monsoons as it rushes and fills up the river bed. There is a lovely sense of natural regeneration, calm and peace about wild brook - it is unhurried and unruffled and goes about completely at its own pace and will not be rushed!
Dont go looking for anything that is materially indulgent and you wont be disappointed at natures indulgence . The cabins are large and comfortable and the absence of electricity is actually comforting as you are cocooned in the fresh air of the valley, sounds of the wild and darkness broken by unadulterated starshine:)
Manoj is truly a naturalist and conservationist at heart and this is clearly his passion - he will let you into his world if you come across as interested and a nature walk with him will uncover many of nature's mysteries -he is completely tuned into his surroundings and is refreshingly non patronizing with those different from him.
Be prepared to take your own garbage back with you to dispose in an eco conscious way, eat simple fresh food and just let nature take control during your stay there. We came back with plans to return in winter

“somewhere to settle...”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 May 2010

i found india much tougher than i was expecting, and the heat from the sun at the end of april didn't help matters. Thank goodness for wildbrook... I was well looked after from start to finish: good food every day, lovely and clean accomodation, lovely walks in the himalayan foothills between a variety of small rural dwellings, an abundance of wildlife, exciting off-road journey through the national park and then past a little rural village before arriving at the road to rishikesh - the town where supplies and materials may be obtained. I was helping to begin a wood-fired bread oven whilst i was there, and myself and manoj (the owner/manager) went to all kinds of little industries in rishikesh - potters, bakery, iron works... a wonderful insight into seeing how things work in that part of the world. This is a great place for minds to develop, whatever be your strong points you can apply useful ideas that can help preserve local ways of life whilst giving some of the benefits of more developed parts of the world.

There are activities that manoj can organize for you, like safari and rafting, with his ever-growing connections with the local areas, if volunteer work is not your thing. The hospitality is excellent at wildbrook, and i have even recommended to my parents that they go out there for a visit. I was there for six nights, and by the end of that time i was starting to feel some of that peaceful settled feeling that you long to get home for...

“Amazing Green Eco Lodge!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 October 2009

I had such a amazing experience staying at Wildbrook! I first met Manoj the owner at his guest house Sneh Deep in Jaipur and he told me about his Eco Lodge. He was so awesome showing me around and making sure i was safe and comfortable. The environment at Wildbrook is very relaxing and the sounds of nature are so soothing, its such a great getaway from the craziness of India and its very clean and well kept!

What I really appreciate about Wildbrook is that its a self sustaining green eco-lodge. For the price of your stay you get to stay in either a beautiful cottages (I LOVE the cottage) or luxurious tents, and have meals cooked by people that live at the resort and eat organic, freshly farmed vegetables they grow in there own garden! They even have solar power!

The only thing is making sure you go at a good time, it was very dry when I was there and the river that runs in front of the resort was dried up at the time.

I can't wait until i get to go back to Wildbrook since my stay was so shortlived! I love business's that make conscious effort to make as little negative impact on the earth.

Thank you Manoj, your wife, and your boys for taking such good care of me both at Sneh Deep and at the Eco Lodge, I had a great time!

  • Liked — It was beautiful, relaxing, comfortable, and its green!
  • Disliked — Didn't see enough wild animals even though we were in a national park
