“very pleasant stay - lovely old hotel”

Sorry but totally disagree with last review. Have just spent 4 nights in room102 and found it very comfortable, bed large and slept very well. Room clean and well equiped with towels and bathrobes, plenty of complementary shower gel and shampoo. Only niggle is no coffee/tea making facilities in room. Great location right on Lac Leman. Were there for a wedding and food extremely good - worthy of 4* restaurant. Didn't have breakfast in hotel as was told very expensive so went across the road for coffee and croissants. Staff very attentive and always willing to help. Hotel is old so bound to be slightly quirky. If you're expecting modern hotel type room then don't stay here. Old heavy furniture but very Swiss. Although room was next to lift there was no noise. This room has partial view of lake and very quiet, rooms overlooking road at front of hotel are noisy so worth asking for room at back. Would stay here again.

Room Tip: ask for room overlooking lake - front rooms very noisy from road traffic.

“Avoid the place if you possibly can!!!!!!”

We stayed at this hotel towards the end of a long driving tour of Europe. We had stayed in some fantastic hotels both large and small. This place gives the impression ot total neglect both outside and in from the moment you arrive. The reception area smelt musty, and the receptionist was far from welcoming.
The 3 rooms we had (not lake facing) were hot (no aircon and too noisy to open windows) and in desperate need of refurbishment. There was mould around the bath, the sink was blocked and the tv didn't work and they charge extra for Wi-Fi!!. The restaurant looked ok but as the place seeemed devoid of staff and atmosphere we ate out at the neighbouring town of Nyon and had breakfast at a charming cafe across the road. Parking is available and free across the road but only 5 spaces. All in all a place to be avoided.

Room Tip: Go somewhere else like Nyon

“Worst hotel I've ever stayed at”

I was in Geneva on business and all hotels were booked because of a large Congress. My company booked me here and I saw the poor reviews and was a bit nervous. It I disgusting. My room smelled like a nursing home, dust, cats and the decor was extremely outdated. My eyes swelled shut and I didn't sleep a wink. I have stayed at youth hostels nicer than this place. Take my word and stay away!

“Just don't bother!”

Nice location by the lake, but that is the only good thing you can say about this establishment. The service is appalling and what is worse they simply don't care. Shame on them!

“Lakeside location with historical atmoshpere”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 November 2008

This is a small hotel with the specific charms you do not find in large hotel chains. The location is unique, not only near (about 15 minutes by car) to the centre of Geneva, but also directly on the shore of the lake of Geneva, midst in the medieval town (or rather village) of Coppet. The building itself has some history. The staff is very courteous, and we received an upgrade to best suite, such treat of course can only be off-season. The beautiful room was an unique apartment with two bathrooms, with classical French furniture as well as modern comfort, spectacular view of the lake, and a nice terrace, and much more. What was missing was a coffee maker, an ironing board, slippers, and the bathroom amenities (soap, shampoo, towels, etc.) were a bit stingy for the price of the room. Anyhow, the bed was comfortable and we slept very well. It is a pity that the main traffic runs through the very centre of Coppet on the grand-rue in front of the hotel, but our lakeside room heard nothing of that. We had dinner at the Rotisserie, the service was absolutely friendly and attentive and the food was delicious. the fireplace provides a comfortable atmosphere and makes you feel back in old ages. The hotel is quite expensive. Breakfast (additional CHF 25) was really average if not less. What should be pointed out that there is no parking space in front of the hotel, as the main street which is quite narrow and right in front of the hotel, and public parking lots are about 100 meters (blue zone for 90 minutes) or 300 m away (direction Lausanne).

  • Liked — total appearance of room
  • Disliked — abesence of car parking, breakfast food/service
