“Wonderful!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 October 2010

We have just spent a night at Traquair House with family to celebrate a family Birthday. It is an amazing place to visit and stay at, you really feel the history there. The staff were very friendly, the rooms beautiful and clean. The breakfast, served in a beautiful blue 'Still Room' was fantastic and typically Scottish! We also ate at Cadden View and The Traquair Arms Hotel - both also very good.

“MARVELLOUS AND PEACEFUL”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 September 2010

We have just returned from a weekend at this house and cannot give enough praise to all at the house. We found the peace and tranquility unbeleivable. I will certainly recommend this house for something completely different.

“Amazing house”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 June 2010

Traquair was one of the most amazing houses I've stayed in throughout my travels in Europe. Absolutely lovely. We stayed in the small private apartment and the suite could not have been more luxurious, nor the hospitality better. As a historian, there are few spots that rival this for soaking in Scottish history. I hope to get there again soon.

“Living History - a wonderful experience!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 June 2010

Traquair House is an absolute "MUST" for people who love Schotland and castles! It is not an anonymous "Castle Hotel" with all standard 5-star amenities, but it is definitely a unique 5-star experience!
The house and grounds are well kept, rooms are spacious, clean and comfortable! I stayed in the "Pink Room", which is in the old part of the house, and next to the "High Drawing Room". In this room, you are literally "surrounded by Scottish history", but you can feel that the house is still alive, and not (just) a museum.
All the staff is very welcoming and helpful, and the delicious "Full Scottish Breakfast" with Traquair's own honey and marmelade will last until tea time.
The maze is great fun, and a walk through the surrounding woods on a sunny morning can be really enchanting! So, don't just plan to spend the night - you can easily stay a whole day and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere of this place!
I recommend this to everyone who is looking for something special!
It is not on the standard Scottish Highland-Trip route, but it's really worth to take a detour!

“Magical Step Back in Time......Sheer Loveliness”

Lady Stuart....Thank you for letting us visit your lovely estate. I had heard stories about Traquair from the time I was a little girl. It was a dream come true to visit and to walk through the maze behind the house, as well as to see the lovely home. I met my first little Cavalier spaniel...a little black and white chap...who enjoyed following various visitors as they walked the grounds. I am happy to say that this summer I shall also be adopting Fiona, another little black and white, who could be his twin. Of all the experiences that I had while visiting my friends in Kelso and sightseeing in the Borders, this was the one that will long stand out in my memory. I look forward to a return soon. All best wishes.
