“Not 4 stars!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 January 2012

We stayed for one week: room cleaning two times ( shoild be every day except Thursday and Sunday) a week, towelchange two times a week. If you like noisy music at night, stay here. No chance to get a sunbed by the pool, not once during a week. Internet is slow here. Would not recommend this place for couples if you don´t rent a car to get around. The restaurant at the hotel is not a place to eat at night, tasteless food. The breakfast is fine.

“City Chic Meets Riviera Beach”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 October 2011

The Hotel Riviera Marina is by far one of the best holiday resort hotels we have stayed in. Set in a very small beach-front location, the hotel feels as if it is in a resort of its own, with only one or two bars/restaurants and a small supermarket nearby; however it is only 10 or so minutes to the two bigger resorts, so perfect is you want total peace during the day, but a more lively atmosphere at night.
The rooms are very modern, and are very similar in design to upmarket city centre hotels. The bathroom in our double room was immaculately clean, and the feature of being able to look out onto the beach from the shower, was an excellent touch. One comment I would make is that, being entirely glass, the bathroom offers little privacy for anything you may be doing. Therefore if travelling with friends or a teenage family, it would probably be necessary to throw them out onto the balcony while you use the facilities, and vice versa. Apart from this, the hotel rooms are excellent and finished to a very high standard. The same high standard of cleanliness and sleek design continues outside in the pool area. There are plenty of deck chairs, even when the hotel is full, and for those who prefer the beach, this is just a matter of steps from the poolside.
For those on a HB/AI basis, the meals are very good, although slightly repetitive, and the restaurant staff are extremely pleasant and helpful. The food served at the poolside bar is slightly more 'fast foodish' than inside, but is still acceptable.
Evening entertainment can be a bit hit or miss, as is the case at any hotel complex, but it was entertaining - good or bad! On the other hand, daytime activities are far more varied, with lots made available to keep the kids happy.
The sole reason we have marked down the hotel by a star, is because of the sheer rudeness of the lead receptionist. Throughout our stay we were lucky enough to be served by two very friendly females, who were very eager to help in any way they could. Unfortunately, on our departure day, when enquiring about late check out, we had the misfortune of having to deal with a very grumpy, uninterested, rude, middle aged man, who made no effort to help us out, and by the end of our conversation was shouting at us, making obscene hand gestures and shrugging his shoulders, despite our requests being very reasonable. This encounter did put a dull cloud over our stay, but in all honestly wouldn't put us off staying again.

We arrived there 07-09. First impression was waauw.
Good hotel, nice view on the three pools, the bar with cozy, lazy seats. Good breakfast buffet with different choices. Nice and quiet, good location.
The supermarket is very close as also some restaurants and bars
On departure they made a picknick box for breakfast.
Busstation is close to the hotel.

Some personal disadvantages:
No direct car parkings in front of the hotel, But in the area you can find something.
Relative hard matress.
No bath, only shower.
No shampoo or creamsoap was provided for the shower.

Room Tip: All the rooms are the same, only book seaview

“Lovely”

Stayed here for a fortnight all inclusive in august - 2 adults 2 kids.
Overall a lovely holiday, the hotel is so quiet and relaxing.
We booked a junior suite and I'm still unsur if this is what we got as lots of the rooms were the same. Big double room with separate living room which acted as avbedroom for the kids. Lots of space.
Pools were quiet and safe - perfect for recharging batteries
Food was great always something for all of us. The staff couldn't do enough for us especially Jose on the pool bar who took a shine to my 3 yr old.
Only criticism was that the all inclusive bands were removed from 12 on day of departure even though we didn't leave till 6 and had to pay 15euros to have a room Gil then.

“Very quiet but relaxing holiday no complains between 3*&4*”

We arrived at Riveria Marina hotel booked last minute through Jet2.com and i would highly recommend jet2 for their simple no mess well organised travel system. Air plane /port and transferes all very well with no issues. Arrived around 22.30 to our hotel with sanwiches and drinks in our room . 2 euros per day for safe.Air con worked(free) but could have been better. Reception very helpful and pleasant.
HOTEL
The hotel is split half All Inclusive/half board & private apartments with a sister hotel (marina spa) ajacent. 4 floors 150 rooms total large reception chill out area and indoor saloon (not open at our stay but was too warm to stay indoors) Rooms are modern and welcoming our room slept 3 in a huge double bed and a decent single .Stunning views from every verander over the pools and Ocean. Good large changing storage area and a well kept very modern bathroom . Poss too modern for most people as the bathroom is set in a glass frame and not very private but does make the most of the natural light.Cleaners worked hard as always. Internet was 2 euros for half hour in reception wifi is same in sister hotel
POOLS
2 good sized pools with lots of sunbeds . The hotel was very quiet during our stay but there is enough room for all when at capacity i am sure around the pool areas. " jacuzzis and a few kiddies pools too. A 50 meter walk through the hotel gates onto a stoney beach front with a good area to swim in the ocean /warm and clean. Kept room after we booked out for 15 euros until 18-00 which was very good as all facilities inc food and drink was stiil available
FOOD & BAR
Bar manager Jose was a pleasure to meet and talk too . Good bloke very helpful and all "no problem" Domingo needs learn some basic manners and by being all inclusive dosent mean we are "getting it free" and we can wait it means we have already paid and if we are standing waiting to be served dont ignore us.Not too sure why we needed A.I wristbands and need our keycard too a little difficult to understand.
Food was acceptable and a decent choice of dishes all repetative main choices with a few specials every day. If i was going to mark the food sepertly i would give 6/10 as what i ate was nice sometimes very nice but there was other basic food items that didnt look at its best.
Gran Canaria
We went to Playa de Ingles - was busy very big and confirmed our reason for not staying there. Nice beaches but much to full on (i must be getting old)Maspalomas was massive and made from Concerete
Puerto Rico- A lot smaller and quieter with a little nightlife shops bars and restraunts we ate at The Red Rose Restraunt behind the Bahia Seafront Cafe. Nice food served from a decent choice by a mad english woman (good times)
Puerto de Mogan- A very nice area small with good seafood restraunts .Take a camera worth a day visit to no hassle shops and a stunning marina.
Boat trip from Mogan to Puerto Rico 6 euros and a good view about 40 minutes.
Met up with a nice family from Durham Andy,Jan & Beth nice to meet you "BOGIES"
GENERAL
There are lots of places to stay around the southern points of Gran Canaria . I would not be upset if this was one of them for location and to chill out. Now i have been i am happy with our choice but next time could be winter sunshine when its busier and maybe another hotel in pd mogan rather than pd cura,
