My wife and five-month-old child stayed one night at Niki Club on August 7. We chose a Japanese-style room with futon beds. The large wooden bathtub in the room is quite a pleasure and had a creek view. For those who have an interest in modern architecture with Japanese touches it is a treat. The outdoor onsen has a view of trees and greenery. We used it three times. The dining room is dramatic with huge windows. Dinner was a nice combination of mostly Japanese ingredients in a French presentation. Without our asking, the restaurant had prepared a place for our baby to sleep next to our table (and thank goodness she slept through dinner). Some reviewers suggest that Japanese service is not effusive enough, but I think the personal connection with the guest is made, indirectly, through uncompromising effort and earnestness. How many times have you left a resort embarrassed at the lengths to which staff went for you? This is that type of place. While certainly expensive, it is a rejuvenating get away from Tokyo.
