“Beautiful Resort”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 February 2012

Okinawa is a wonderful place. Its tropical environment, its surreal beaches and the happiness of the habitants contribute to create a paradise on earth.

Alivila is not only a luxury hotel; it is a complete resort. There are a vast garden, a large swimming pool, several decoration pools & fountains, a private beach, several shops & restaurants, etc.

The room was large and equipped with comfortable beds and sofa. The bathroom was very nice. The view on the balcony was simply amazing on sunny days. Waking up with a blue sky over a blue sea is a fantastic feeling. The room is equipped with everything that you would expect in modern countries. Everything was cleaned.

The lobby is huge and nicely decorated. There are computers available for free, but they were always busy.

The beach is not a top-class beach like we can see in some places of Okinawa, but it is beautiful enough to be on post-cards. Unfortunately, it was a little bit too cold for swimming.

There is a fake chapel for wedding ceremonies next to the hotel. I personally find it ridiculous, but can understand that there is a market for this. I guess it is cultural.

You definitely need a car to travel around the island. There are a lot of mass-tourism attractions. I usually hate those, but they didn’t feel like tourist-trap at all. In fact, it is in those places that we learned about the local culture. We are now fan of Okinawa traditional folk music.

We will be back in Okinawa for sure !

“Dim Sum at the Alivila”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 December 2011

Delicious! By far the best Dim Sum on the island. The resort was very well kept, the hotel had a lot of different restaurants. I did not stay at the resort because I am currently living on island.

Dim Sum Buffet was more like specialty catering. The portions were great - they put fresh food out on the buffet when needed. There was enough to chose between seafood, veggies, and other meat. There was also a good selection of desserts and jellos.

Dim Sum - came out in three portions - the First Portion has your main dumplings and so forth...the second portion of trays were more meats (chicken feet/ribs) those sort of thing, and the third portion was any of the above that you would want more of. Each came out with two pieces. My favorite was a dumpling that had "curry seasoning". And for sure, I had every and each type with Shrimp in it! :-)

After the Dim Sum Brunch - i also took a walking tour of the grounds and took tons of great photos - the weather was perfect that day - and so was the blue in the water. Prior to Dim Sum - we were over in the Sea Salt Factory - where I stirred up my own sea salt - for about 1500 Yen.

Price was great for dim sum - as the food did not displease.

“Would give it five stars if...”

The hotel itself is clean and in a good shape. The wedding church attached (like many Nikko hotels) gives it a special feel. There is a variety of restaurants and shops in the hotel. However, during our stay it was over crowded. There were too many children in the pool, giving it an impression of a kindergarten pool. There was a typhoon, so basically we did not have the sea option. We had an incident which led to the hotel manager kindly upgrading our room to a top floor room in the renovated building, which is absolutely better than the old building. The day after the typhoon the marine sports was still closed in the hotel, so we had to go to a nearby resort to ride the crazy tube pulled by the jet ski. Overall, it was my second trip to Okinawa was OK despite the typhoon. If you want to go out of the hotel for a cheap meal, you can also go to the salt museum nearby, which has a pizza viking (all-you-can-eat) next to it, with specialty cocktails.

“A nice Spanish style Hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 February 2009

I have stayed here one night for attending friend's wedding ceremony. and it has nice rooms but one building has been renovated and covered by greyish screen so we saw grey buidling on sourthen side of hotel area.
Entire hotel area seems like spanish style. public area and room were beautiful and clean.
We had enjoyed tea and cake then move out to the patio with flowers where was between buildings.
my friends's wedding was great and chappel was just beside the beach so that we could see the ocean behind prist during ceremony. It was a wonderfull moment.
One thing I can tell is location where is isolated. If somebody like isloted and quite place, it is ideal. I like quite but there is nothing around the hotel so we must have drived a car every time we needed something.
