“Peaceful Japanese resourt hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 June 2011

Stayed here for a few days and found the hotel and rooms really nice. In the Japanese way, its very peaceful and quiet. The rooms are very clean and the bathroom was excellent, including a seperate bath and shower. We stayed on the 8th floor, and from what i could gather every room had a view overlooking the ocean, from the terrace on the room. The terrace is quite good and can sit out there and enjoy a drink oor food in the evening (tip - head across the road to the Lawson convenience store to top up food and snacks and you'll pay 30% less than the hotel convenience shop). The hotel is built in a way to feel like a ship when you are inside which is quite unique, and I noticed they have recently set up a altar for weddings inside the foyer facing onto the beach (personally I woudln't like my wedding in a hotel foyer, but would be unique to see the Japanese get married that way)
The hotel is a bit out of town, about 20 min walk, although if you can speak enough Japanese, there are maany restaurants that will run a hotel pick up shuttle service from the hotel to their restaurant which is really convenient. Try asking the front desk staff, or you may see it in the advertising brochures for nearby restaurants in the hotel guide in the room.
The hotel also has a nice buffet and BBQ restaurant that you can sit outside at tables on the grass near the beach to eat. This is quite a good feature of the hotel and generally you will not find in other places in Japan - outdoor eating iis pretty uncommon on the mainland areas, although Okinawa may be different.
As for the beach, its manicured and raked every day and appears man-made and a bit unnatural. The pool was out of use as we went out of season but looked quite large in size. The only complaint I would is that, in typical Japanese style, you have to pay for any additional activities, including the mini-golf and tennis. There are a number of tennis courts which lay empty throughout the whole stay, and if it was free as part of the hotel we woudl definitely have played.
All in all, this is a nice hotel, good location for exploring and travelling up and down the island> Definitely best to hire a car (you can hire for as little as Y3,000 per day, definitely worth it if you have the license).

“Nice hotel geared towards Japanese travelers that's a good value”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 May 2009

We stayed here for 4 days to get some sun and relaxation to start our month long trip through Japan. We chose this hotel for its location along the middle of the West Coast, the nice pool (key for our babies) and beautiful beach, good price (about $50 less than other similar hotels), and good reviews on Tripadvisor.

The hotel itself is quite large, and a bit dated in design (80's style), meant to look like a large ship. The nice thing is that there is a view of the ocean from every window. The rooms themselves are quite large, which is a treat in Japan. They were able to provide us with 1 crib, as they didn't have any others, but that wasn't a problem as we just turned the couch around. Bathrooms were also nice and large. We had free breakfast with our hotel (and if you missed it, you got free lunch instead), which was all you can eat buffet style, with mostly Japanese food. We also ahd free internet. The hotel pool was nice enough, with a little baby pool that we used quite a bit, and the beach itself was beautiful, if a bit manicured. For those with families, there's a nice water recreation center that rents out equipment like boogy boards, etc. It is very "safe" in that a certain portion of the water was cordoned off for hotel guest use. We highly recommend that you rent a car--we couldn't have imagined enjoying our time here otherwise, as we have a hard time spending that much time on the beach.

BTW, I highly recommend you read the other English language review on this hotel--he's very accurate in that it's geared towards Japanese travelers. There was some staff that spoke a little English, but by and large, it was a lot of hand signals and checking our travel guide for translations.

What we liked best: location, price, size of the room and beach/pool

What we liked least: 80's style design and could use more English speakers (not a big deal, as we recognize we're visiting Japan!)

“Very good hotel - but having a car is essential in Okinawa!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 June 2008

This was an interesting resort and one definitely geared to a Japanese audience. Tour buses would come in of polite, well organized and professionally lead groups. These groups would eat in mass in the morning, disappear during the day for their intense, guided sight seeing and pop up here and there to invade the beach. The level of English at the resort was poor for most staff with the exception of one or two staff at reception and also the lady at the information counter.

The beach area was very nice at the hotel and came with a variety of very tame water sports, including some kayaking (only within a very restricted area of very calm waters); peddling water tractor; there was an inflatable boat which people were being towed into the sea on; guided snorkelling also appeared to take place. In true Japanese style, everything was very supervised and areas of the water were carved out so that one was confined to a 200 metre square area of the beach. Waters were very calm and there was virtually no tide. So, if you are looking for a sporty surfing holiday, this is not the resort or the sea. The water, however, is very clean and also quite shallow. All in all, it was a relaxing beach area. I suspect the beach facilities at the other neighbouring resorts (ie Renaissance, Blue Moon, etc) to be very similar.

The hotel itself is quite nice and has a dated 80’s feel to it. However, this has no bearing on cleanliness, maintenance or usability of the building. The Japanese maintain their buildings to a very high standard and Japanese tourist tread very lightly. Every room comes with a balcony and great views over the Sea and the beach – very nice feature. The western style room was well appointed and very comfortable and airy. The building architecture is quite interesting and shaped in a triangular fashion so to look like a cruise ship.

The hotel is easily accessible by a public bus from Naha airport and to Okinawa. The former takes about 1.5 hour from the central station and the latter takes about 1 hour. It is best to have a car in Okinawa in order to profit from the great scenery and the different cities on the Island. However, you MUST have an international driver’s license in order to rent a car. Otherwise, you’ll be taking the bus like us!

In terms of site seeing on the Island, “America town” and “Kadena” can definitely be missed. In fact, I found this to be the most depressing experience of this two week trip. Enough said.

The breakfast buffet at the hotel was excellent. The Japanese are up at 0700 to take advantage of the great selection of Japanese and Western options. The buffet was plentiful and frequently refilled. The breakfast coupon can be used for lunch if you miss breakfast which is a nice bonus.

There was no internet in the room which was disappointing but due to the ‘resort’ nature of the hotel, this is not terribly surprising. In fact, the lone internet station in the reception was rarely used so I guess I can’t blame the hotel for not supplying this facility.

We reserved the hotel via the website of the hotel directly. It was approximately 5,000 Yen cheaper than the other resorts but still quite expensive as far as Japanese hotels go, this was because it was a triple room.

I would stay at this hotel again but would sooner look for another location on the island and most certainly have a car for next time.
