We a group of 3 friends were stay put in this beautiful resort..actually everything's perfect in this resort...except for the ayurvedic massage which we took here...the ayurveda guys carried out this massage for barely 45 mins (which should have been for an hour and half)...they also refused to treat one of us..just because we were somewhat late...and it was closing time for them...leaving the dissapointment part...overall the stay was extremely nice...rooms were plush & spacious...with the beach right in front of us...overall great stay...and would like to surely visit again....

My wife and I sojourned in the South Western seaboard of Sri Lanka in December 2011. . We stayed in high quality hotels throughout our stay and, without a shadow of doubt, the Oasey Beach Hotel in Bentota provided the best value for money. It was surprisingly less expensive than almost every other hotel in the area but the facilities were second to none. The hotel wants for nothing. It is just the right size - not a sprawling concrete maze - which makes it very cosy and friendly. Large swimming pool with clear blue water, beautifully manicured gardens fronting onto a beach with soft sand.

We believe that the primary reason for this is the hands-on involvement of the Sole Proprietor Mr Vajira. His attention to detail is phenomenal. He identifies with every guest without being over-powering or intruding in any way. He has a charming and engaging personality which, to my mind, was not an artificially put on act. It simply reflects his own character. His staff have clearly been influenced by his style - hence their contribution to our enjoyment. We invited some friends (who were staying at a far more expensive hotel in the same area) to join us for dinner one evening at the Oasey Beach Hotel. They were so taken with not just the quality of service and exhaustive menu served up ( satisfying any type of pallet) but also the ambience of the place. Had they not already been contracted to accommodation elsewhere they would rather have been at the Oasey Beach

We intend to return there with a group of friends - probably around Dec 2013 - and there is no contest as to which hotel we will book into.

An amazing experience. The hotel was quiet with the most wonderful staff and a family feel to it. The beach is fabulous, the pool was good for children and the rooms were large and clean.
We had children with us (3 and 4 years) who were well looked after by the friendly staff.
Developments such as the addition of a beach volleyball court and some swings and see-saws make it even better.
The hotel food was very good but maybe the only downside was the price when compared with nearby hotels and restaurants.
Overall, a lovely stay and somewhere we would be delighted to visit again.

...with the warmth and care of the staff at this hotel. We stayed 5 days and were well taken care of. Kudos in particular to Loti, a German lady who works at the hotel (and has an interesting personal story to share as to why she has stayed on since the tsunami) and Vijita, the hotel's driver. Both of them really went out of their way to take very good care of us. The Sri Lankans who own the hotel are more business oriented relative to their staff who are more hospitable. The hotel has only 16 rooms. It has a nice swimming pool and nice beach to watch sunsets. The beach is lovely to walk and/or jog along. There is also an ayurvedic massage centre in the hotel. The rooms are huge and each has a nice balcony. The cafe has a limited selection in their menu but there was always a different local breakfast every morning. Do be prepared to wait for some time for your food.

Areas of improvement necessary - the hotel needs a fresh coat of paint outside. The toiletries are very basic and should include a shower-cap and hair-dryer. As the hotel is close to the road, you may be awoken occasionally by the sounds of air-horns of passing heavy vehicles on the main-road or by trains passing by. Be advised that the satellite-television is only available in the lobby of the hotel and not in the rooms. Families with young children should be aware that it is dangerous to allow their children into the sea as the currents are very strong.
