“Good choice”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 November 2011

We spent one night at the Koulnoue Village during our trip across Grande Terre. We had a warm welcome and our bungalow was nice, cleaned and very spacious as it was a family accomodation with four beds. The location is amazing; beautiful garden full of palms surrounded by high black rocks on one side and sea and beach on the other. The buffet restaurant is very good and it is pleasent and relaxing having dinner/breakfast outside hearing the noise of the waves. I will deifinately suggest this hotel and Hienghene, with its vicinity, are amazing!

“Nice place but overpriced for what it is...”

We spent two nights in the Koulnoue Village for the are no other choices to stay if you like to explore the north-east coast of New Caledonia. The resort is rather expensive and there is also little choice with regard to food, you either go with the buffet, which is CFP 3900 per person or go to bed hungry. The beach is nice for an extensive walk but you will miss the sand for beaching and swimming; it is all gravel. However, one has to accept that New Caledonia is an expensive island to explore for it lacks the infrastructure for individual tourism, so the price at the Koulnoue Village becomes relative.

“A shame”

We have arrived late at this hotel around 11pm, we were exciting to be in New caledonia and my boyfriend have kept a bottle of champagne for the occasion. but in the room there was no corkscrew so we went to the front desk and ask for it, but employees were so surprise about our question then, they decided to call the manager and this guy did refused our request, and said it was forbidden to have a bottle of champagne in our room.I wanted to say to this guy if you read this message, you are a shame for the French people ( I am one) and this absolutly not customer service that you have provided this night.New caledonia is REALLY far away and extremely expensive so I think it was an exceptional occasion for us to drink this champagne.

“Great Place for Families”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 October 2010

Stayed at the old Club Med - Koulnoue Village for three nights. There were four of us in the room, including out 20 month old son. The location was great and there are lots of activities (though some of them are dated!). Right off the beach (not a great beach sand wise, but quite nice just the same) there was a reef with some dececnt snorkelling, and the grounds are huge and smack in the middle of a coconut plantation - so there was plenty of room for our son to run around. Right next door to the hotel reception is a farm where you can visit with the little ones for free - he really enjoyed this! There are bikes (one with a child seat), tennis, mini golf (though very dated), a driving range and kayaks. The scenery in the region is great. Be sure to cross the Bac de Ouanimine and drive to the Cascade de Tao. If you're fit the hike to the waterfall is superb. Only downside is the fact that the only meal option is a buffet, priced at 3750 XPF, and there is nothing close by. We brought supplies for breakfast in our room and took along a disposable BBQ for diner one evening. The rooms are currently priced at 14750 XPF, which is not bad for the value when compared with other hotels in New caledonia.

“Lovely location, Very Expensive”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 August 2009

The hotel is a collection of hexagonal bungalows arranged in lovely sea-side grounds around a central restaurant and administration complex.

If you are a family looking for a quiet, pleasant resort with activities for the kids it is probably wonderful. All we wanted was a reasonable place to sleep for a reasonable price, so I saw it through different eyes. Unfortunately it is the only hotel of any acceptable standard any where near Hienghene. The hotel is about 15 minutes drive from the town.

The bed was OK and so was the bungalow. Tea and coffee-making facilities were provided and the TV had several French-only channels.

The grounds were superb and the deer wandering around in the morning were a nice touch. As a room for the night, rather than as a resort, the price of XPF12495 (AU$180,US$150) was very expensive for the quality. The only dinner choice is the smorgasbord for another XPF3675 per person; that would have added an extra AU$106 to our bill. Breakfast is a further XPF1785 per person. As a result we made our own meal arrangements.
