“Poor Customer Service”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 February 2012

Booked a house over a year in advance. Deposit of €180 was paid immediately. When I tried to cancel within a few days of booking the manager was insisting on keeping the deposit. He eventually agreed to return €150 as it was still over a year in advance, promising to return the final €30 when the house was booked the following year. When contacted 7 months later about the return of that €30 he was downright rude and now said he would return it only when all the houses were let. But what really shocked me was the arrogant attitude from a manager in the hospitality industry. Ireland's reputation in this area would be poorly served by such a person. Try the Lis-Ardagh Lodge in Union Hall or indeed any B & B in the area would provide a better service. Customer service should be a priority, this manager has much to learn!

“Location location location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 September 2011

stayed here for a week in early june with my husband and 7month old child on a supervalu break, €300 for the week plus €10electricty charges per day bit steep u may say but €370 for a week away is very good value. All i can say is what an amazing place. The house had 3 bedrooms it was spotless and had everything that we needed. the hotel provided a travel cot and a baby bath only issue was there was no bath so it was a bit difficult trying to fill the baby bath from the shower. we ate in the hotel bar on many occassions during the week, menu and food were both great loads of choice and very reasonable. take away also available from the hotel. Parking was available outside the house. The village of glandore is amazing with the Glandore inn and hayes up the road all well worth a visit. i would definitely recommend the Marine hotel. It is an ideal base for travelling around west cork.

Room Tip: you can't go wrong with the houses

“Beautiful accomodation and village”

We had booked 3nights at the Marine in a 2bed apartment/house and we were not at all disappointed with our stay. The Apt was spotless and had the best of equipment and furniture. There was three bathrooms two with powerful showers and good quality towels. The kitchen was fully fitted with all mod cons like washing machine, dryer, dishwasher, oven and hob so it was a real home from home. The decor was tasteful and modern. Only down side is there was no mobile signal anywhere in the property but were advised that at check in and the tv channels were but a few (about 5 working stations). Glandore is a very pretty village and the Marine is right in the centre of it all. Union Hall is a 7min drive away and the N71 is about a 10-15min drive away to access Roscarbery or Leap. As our 16month old took ill on our 2nd night we unfort had to check out the next day. Declan was very understanding and did not charge us the full daily rate which was very nice gesture. We would have no hesitation in recommending The Marine Hotel/Holiday Homes to anyone who will be staying in Glandore

Just of the Main N71 from Cork through to Kerry - well worth a stop off. A bite of grub in the bar or just a chilled glass of wine on the veranda!!!! GORGEOUS.

“Adequate rooms, good food, rubbish service”

Like many others we were staying at The Marine whilst visiting Glandore for a wedding at the wonderful Rectory. This really is a well situated hotel for that reason, you can walk to the venue in 5 minutes and stagger back down the hill just as quick!
The rooms are fine for getting cleaned up and sleeping in, that's about that. There was a small old fashioned TV (hey you are on holidays, so why do you need a TV!) the fridge was a joke and would probably hold 4 cans of coke and that's enough said about the rooms.
I can see that the parking could be an issue - there are about 12 spaces in the courtyard in front of the rooms, the rest are under one of the hotel blocks. The problem is they are situated in a prime spot for the sailing community.
The food in the bar / restaurant is nice, but don't expect service with a smile, or indeed good service. We had to ask again and again for high chairs, drinks, to check our order had gone in and one of the waitresses even said she was ready to kill everybody - nice! (that was after waiting 30 minutes for our drinks to be delivered!) To be fair though i think management is to blame - the staff were all young and seemed to have no manager nor enough of them working. NIce to see they were all Irish though!
In essence a great spot for the Rectory and surrounded by beautiful scenery, but not much on top of that.
