“Beautiful accomodation and village”

We had booked 3nights at the Marine in a 2bed apartment/house and we were not at all disappointed with our stay. The Apt was spotless and had the best of equipment and furniture. There was three bathrooms two with powerful showers and good quality towels. The kitchen was fully fitted with all mod cons like washing machine, dryer, dishwasher, oven and hob so it was a real home from home. The decor was tasteful and modern. Only down side is there was no mobile signal anywhere in the property but were advised that at check in and the tv channels were but a few (about 5 working stations). Glandore is a very pretty village and the Marine is right in the centre of it all. Union Hall is a 7min drive away and the N71 is about a 10-15min drive away to access Roscarbery or Leap. As our 16month old took ill on our 2nd night we unfort had to check out the next day. Declan was very understanding and did not charge us the full daily rate which was very nice gesture. We would have no hesitation in recommending The Marine Hotel/Holiday Homes to anyone who will be staying in Glandore

Just of the Main N71 from Cork through to Kerry - well worth a stop off. A bite of grub in the bar or just a chilled glass of wine on the veranda!!!! GORGEOUS.

“Adequate rooms, good food, rubbish service”

Like many others we were staying at The Marine whilst visiting Glandore for a wedding at the wonderful Rectory. This really is a well situated hotel for that reason, you can walk to the venue in 5 minutes and stagger back down the hill just as quick!
The rooms are fine for getting cleaned up and sleeping in, that's about that. There was a small old fashioned TV (hey you are on holidays, so why do you need a TV!) the fridge was a joke and would probably hold 4 cans of coke and that's enough said about the rooms.
I can see that the parking could be an issue - there are about 12 spaces in the courtyard in front of the rooms, the rest are under one of the hotel blocks. The problem is they are situated in a prime spot for the sailing community.
The food in the bar / restaurant is nice, but don't expect service with a smile, or indeed good service. We had to ask again and again for high chairs, drinks, to check our order had gone in and one of the waitresses even said she was ready to kill everybody - nice! (that was after waiting 30 minutes for our drinks to be delivered!) To be fair though i think management is to blame - the staff were all young and seemed to have no manager nor enough of them working. NIce to see they were all Irish though!
In essence a great spot for the Rectory and surrounded by beautiful scenery, but not much on top of that.

“Fabulous location but an average hotel”

We stayed here for one night recently to attend a wedding in the Rectory up the road from the hotel. The location is fabulous and the Rectory was also very nice, but our experience with the Marine hotel was pretty poor.

When we arrived there was no parking available as the hotel had booked a lunch for some classic car rally and as a result there parking lot was full of these cars. This was pretty inconvenient as there is not much alternative parking in Glandore and we wanted to park our car safely for the night and not have to return to it during the middle of the wedding reception. The hotel reception staff didn't seem to have much of an answer other than an apology and a shrug of the shoulders.

We stayed in one of the hotel rooms and it was pretty basic. We just wanted somewhere to sleep that night so the room standard didn't affect us too much. But the bed felt like it had seen better days. We both woke with sore backs so I'm glad we weren't staying for more than the 1 night.

As previously mentioned, stunning location but the hotel rooms could do with some improvements.

“Bad service bad value.”

Like many other reviews we were here to attend a wedding at the old rectory.

The hotel is recently refurbished but the rooms, unlike the houses, are frankly shabby.

No phones, tiny tv, with hardly any channels, pathetic water pressure. And most annoyingly a list of dos and dont's. Mostly dont's.

What's the reg plate of your car is standard enough and parking is at a premium but a scolding from receptionist before you've even parked?? Don't make noise at night, we're not naughty children.

Staff in the bar were nice enough but locals will be served before you.
Again all of this is fine were you not paying between 89 and 109 euro per night

Find a friendly b and b.
The overall impression is you are a pesky customer. They are in the hospitality industry right?
