“Nice at first sight”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 February 2012

Although the hotel seemed excellent at first sight and after the booking I was very impatient to get there, the inconvenities started to appear soon.

I didn't pay attention while booking the hotel and got a room without terrace or seaview. And it wasn't possible to change the room on arrival.

Room was nice and spacious...but...with some inhabitants! There were ANTS all over. The kitchen was full of them. I couldn't even imagine if you were to have some food out there, which we didn't. Ants were also in the bed, I remember having them running across my face at night.

The bed wasn't matrimonial like I requested, but 2 single beds put together.

I wanted to spend a romantic weekend in the hotel, but at the end it was bit of a disaster.

Dear clients.

Thank you for your comments always helps us to improve. We regret a lot the incident you are writing about. It is absolutely unusual. Surely if you had this problem we should have offered you another apartment. We are studying the file to see what happened. Please in future times ask to speak directly with the general manager of the resort to provide you a good solution. I am at your disposal if you wish to return to manage directly your booking.

Best regards

“Nice but very hilly resort - CAR A MUST”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 January 2012

We have just returned from the Puerto Acantillado. It is a purpose built resort with a hotel, studio apartments and flats for rent and sale. It is classed as being in El Campello but is actually approximately 5 miles from the town. There are NO shops where you can buy groceries, wine or even water so you are at the mercy of the resort mini market. I paid 5.50 euros for water and a baguette In town you paid 1.30 euros. There is a bus service for the area which is called Venta Lanuza (not El Campello). This only runs twice in the morning 07.15 and 08.15, lunchtime 14.15 the final one is approximately 1900. A taxi will cost you 13 euros into town. There is a tram station (Venta Lanuza) approximately one and a half miles away. It takes 30 minutes of brisk walking, this is a great service but unfortunately the return journey back to the hotel is ALL uphill and a total nightmare, it would be like torture in the summer. Ef Campello is not very exciting but Alicante, Benidorm etc is on the same great tram route if you want to take a trip.

Accomodation itself is very nice, clean and roomy but do not think of cooking any meals at all as there is a serious lack of utensils etc. There isn't even a kettle!! I asked for one but was told they are not supplied so I had to use the extra pan I asked for and boil it on one of the 2 rings (halogen). They do supply a table cloth and serviettes however!!

I don't usually leave comments but feel people need to know these facts before making a decision. Wish we had read them before we went. Lovely setting if you have transport and don't mind driving and not partaking in the lovely Rioja.

Room Tip: Ask for a pool or mountain view otherwise you may be looking into a wall.

“Autumn sun with stunning views”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 November 2011

This is actually my third trip to this hotel – I liked it so much it appears to have become an annual event, having started out as a ‘treat’ to compensate for the fact that pressure of work had pushed the annual holiday into late October.

It’s an excellent serviced apartment based hotel fitted out to a very high standard with two very good in house restaurants (should you decide not to use the nicely kitted out kitchen in your apartment).

It’s only 20-30 minutes from Alicante Airport (allowing for driving styles) and as such is also very handy for Alicante itself – good shopping options!

The staff are friendly, approachable and multilingual as you would expect.
The whole place is designed to look like a Spanish village of separate dwellings - hence the name 'Pueblo'. The cliff top apartments are spacious (air conditioned) and afford a breathtaking view along the coast and out into the bay from the private terrace each has.

An outdoor swimming pool can strike a little cold in autumn (though I have swum in it in November).

Free Wi-Fi comes in very handy for researching things to do and how to get there.

They have a good website that a search for the name will find - I recommend looking as a picture of the place will sell it to you, it did me, and the reality does not disappoint.

Room Tip: Go for the clifftop rooms for the view, it's stunning.

“Kids, kids everywhere and no peace whatsoever!”

Don't go here if you want a relaxing break, all you can hear are screaming kids morning, noon and night. There are no places for adults to relax anywhere around the complex. The pool is brimmed with screaming kids all day and until 9pm or later at night. Kids run up and down the corridors day and night so no peace in rooms either.
The supermarket is really expensive, and you can't get everything you need from it.
If you don't have a car, it's a 50 min walk to the nearest train station, so if you're not fit rent a car. The area itself is beautiful however, awesome views out to sea. Studios at the complex are great, really spacious with good air con and modern kitchen and bathroom. It's just a shame the complex doesn't cater for adults at all. We couldn't wait to leave and get some sleep! Gutted. Thought the place was going to be a relaxing retreat.

Room Tip: All rooms are noisy because kids run up and down the corridors day and night. Only some rooms have a...

Dear Customers;

Thank you very much for your comments that always gives us the opportunity to improve our service. I regret that you did not find the peaceful you find in Pueblo Acantilado Suites. The truth is that in the months of July, August and until mid September, the resort becomes a family vacation spot and obviously not as quiet as the rest of the year. During the remaining months of the feeling is much quieter. Try to focus on the promotion of the summer in a way closer to a resort with family activities. Thanks again for your comments and I wish to return on a future occasion serve them personally.

Best regards

“Nice apartments in a quiet location but having a car is a must”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 July 2011

Charming "village hotel" so different from other horrible "tourist" places around. We stayed there 15 days and enjoyed every day, good food and a friendly staff. You do need a car if you want to go to the beach every day, walking is not an option and bus... haven't seen any during these 15 days.. only empty bust stop..

The apartments are big, clean and nice, modern furnished (we stayed in a clif apartment with a huge tarrace) but don't expect to make a tree course dinner in the kitchen, simple pasta or breakfast that's all. Things we were missing was water kettle, small pot and a sharp knife.
Even if they missed to change towels we just called the reception and got them in 5 minutes.
There is NO wireless internet access in the room, only in the reception area and at grill/ pub.
Chiesa at the reception area offers very delicious italian food and they have an english-speaking and competent waiter.
Les bodegues has also a good food and friendly staff.

After a few days on a Muchavista Beach with millions people selling crap we've found a nice, quiet beach, el Paradis close to Villajoyosa. Not so many people, bars on that beach offers very good food and drinks, you can also rent sun chairs and umbrella (not so cheap, buy or take with you umbrella and sun chair)

I'd recommend Pueblo Acantilado Suites to people who are looking for a quiet and lazy vacation and for families with kids as there is a lot of activities for children in the evenings.

Dear Customers;

Thank you very much for your comments that helps a lot other guest to decide coming to our resort and give us the chance to make things better.
We will try to expand the cookware , so that the possibilities for cooking in the apartment are better. Concerning the means of transportation is true that the best is to rent a car and we recommend it to all our customers that comes without. The bus passes the door of the resort but the frequency is approximately one hour and not throughout the day. After this summer will improve our wifi connection to get it to all apartments, while we report that there is a connection in the apartments with using wires. Thank you for being so kind to recommend and we hope to serve you again in the near future.
