“Highly Recommended”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 February 2012 via mobile

We stayed at Beech Hill House on 3 rd and 4th of February in room 1. We were on a short weekend break. We took our Miniature Dachshund with us. The break was enjoyable despite snowy conditions. We were made to feel most welcome by Jenny and our little dog had a her own B&B experience with bedding biscuits and other pleasantries. The room was clean comfortable and spacious. The bathroom was well laid out and we had a balcony of our own. Not only does Jenny do hospitality exceptionally well she also love her canine guests as she fosters rescued greyhounds. A unique weekend we would not have missed. The food in the adjacent Derby arms is also excellent.
Thankyou.

“Lovely B&B!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 January 2012

what a joy to have such a warm welcome for us and our dog. doggy basket was a lovely touch in the bedroom. we stayed just one night but wished we could have stayed longer. everything we needed and a lot more. comfortable and clean bedroom and ensuite, nice towels and good selection of toiletries. good supply of tea/coffee/chocolate and biscuits, even some treats for our dog. marvelous breakfast, just couldnt fault it, cant wait to come back again. Pub a few yards away, also dog friendly made our stay perfect.

“A fantastic b and b! We will definitely be back!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 December 2011 via mobile

We (my partner and our little chiahuaha Chi Chi) stayed at this lovely b and b for just a night but we would definitely go again. It was our first vacation ever travelling with little chi chi and we enjoyed every second of it. Jenny made us feel welcome instantly and straight away we loved beech hill. We stayed in room 3 and would stay in the same room again it was spacious, tidy and the bathroom was magnificent. Because we were staying in for the night as it was very cold outside we kept ourselves occupied and watched one of the many dvds to choose from. We slept very well as did chi chi! In the morning the good experiences continued as we enjoyed a scrumptious big breakfast that set us up for the day! Beech hill is also in a very good location, we enjoyed two good walks and grange over sands is not very far. We look forward to our next visit in a few months!

“Ideal For What We Wanted”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 December 2011

We wanted a B&B to take our Greyhound on her first jaunt and were recommended this place by The Greyhound Trust.
We had a great stay and nothing is too much trouble for Jenny. They even provide a 'Doggy Kit' for our dogs arrival as well as a very welcome sherry for our arrival.
The room has everything you need for a comfortable stay, I honestly can't think of anything we were short of.
During the afternoon we went for a walk in the beautiful surrounding area, there are several great walks from the doorstep.
In the evening we wandered up the dark lane (torch provivded!) to The Derby Arms (with dog) for a few drinks and a meal and were joined by another couple and the B&B owners and had a lovely evening before wandering back and crashing out on a very comfy bed.
I have to say, the breakfast in the morining was probably the best breakfast I have ever had. The choice was excellent and the freshness and quality of the food was extremely apparent.
The only reason we didn't score it a 5 was because there was some road noise from the room and the rooms were not ultra modern (understandable for dog friendly B&B) but very clean indeed.
We would certainly return to this B&B.
Can't think of much more to say but if anyone has any questions I will gladly answer them as best I can.

Room Tip: Room 1 has a balcony which would be lovely in the summer.

We are so pleased you enjoyed your stay here, and that Beech Hill House was chosen for your greyhound’s first experience of staying overnight away.
For those who aren’t familiar with our area, the road outside our house has no street lights, as do a large number of roads in the National Park and around the Lake District. The provision of a torch is to help guests who are not used to the darkness, and especially because the road leading to the pub isn’t a lane, but a ‘normal’ Lake District road that connects the villages together.
With Beech Hill House being over 100 years old, we feel ‘ultra modern’ is something that isn’t in keeping with the age or style of the house. Being dog owners ourselves and welcoming dogs to our bed and breakfast have no bearings on our choice of decor or the level of our standards, indeed, if anything, being dog friendly enhances the quality of our work thus ensuring our standards are to the level required for guests with or without dogs.
