We have recently returned from a weekend at the Cuckoo Brow Inn... On arrival we were welcomed by a very friendly and helpful young lady on reception , she also took us to our room (number 11) .
The room was very comfortable, not huge but furnished to the highest quality, the bed was 6 foot wide and had lovely comfortable pillows and continental quilt... in fact it was one of the most comfortable beds we had slept in, there were bedside tables and lamps on either side, the wardrobe had interior lights. The bathroom was very well furnished with a very deep bath , brilliant shower and heated towel rail.
The view from the window was lovely, across snow covered fields and hills.
The Cuckoo Brow Inn is extremely dog friendly and this was apparent by the amount of dogs in the bar, all kept on leads and under control (as was our own dog) . This is such a welcome change from having to worry about leaving your dog at home or arranging kennels and can only be good news for dog owners.
We ate at the Inn during the evening and the food was tasty and well presented priced at approximately £12 for a main course, only downside was that we would have liked more vegetables but i am sure if we had asked it wouldnt have been a problem.
I must say the staff were lovely, although busy they still took the time to chat and make you feel welcome.
There were a couple of log fires which gave the place a cosy feel ... In the evening candles were lit on each table which also added to the ambience.
When we stayed there was still snow on the hills and surrounding fields and the area was as pretty as a picture .
Breakfast was a good choice, from traditional Cumbrian which included black pudding, sausage, egg , bacon , beans mushrooms to Haddock with poached eggs, there was also a vegetarian option .
