We stayed here for 2 nights in May. It was the off peak season, so the hotel was relatively quiet. Although we booked the most basic room, we were upgraded to a suite which also had a sitting room and kitchen, which was a pleasant surprise.
The property is gorgeous, set up high in Pyrgos, giving you breathtaking views of Santorini. People rave about the sunset from Oia, which was very nice, but watching the sunset from Zannos was just as incredible, but different. The view from Zannos is more of a 270 degree view and almost from bird's eye. It was just so beautiful to watch the sun set over the grape vines and little white houses below.
As other reviewers have noted, the service was very attentive. I know a lot of people like to be pampered while on holiday, but I actually found the attentiveness a little bit too much at times and felt a little embarrassed being waited on all the time and self-conscious that we were being watched. Just a personal preference, I guess!
The breakfast was fabulous - it was an a la carte selection with so much variety. Fresh fruit, spinach pie, croissants... The warm chocolate croissants were so incredibly good - seriously one of the best chocolate criossants I've ever had!
The room itelf was more an older style room, which is consistent with the decor of the property. Unfortunately, it was probably the least comfortable room we stayed in during our trip. The bed wasn't very comfortable (it was a bit too hard and small), the room felt damp and slightly musty and was very dark. I know dim lighting is great for romance, but I'd much prefer a dimmer switch so that you can control the level of brightness in the room.
The location is a little out of the way - there's not that much happening in Pyrgos and the buses to Pyrgos are pretty infrequent, so we had to taxi in and out during our stay. If you factor that into the cost of your stay, it does start to add up!
There were quite a few nice touches during our stay - complimentary tasting plate, fruit platter, wine and transport to the airport. The staff were very friendly, professional and informative.
However, despite many good things about this hotel, I'm not sure we would stay here again. Things like a comfortable bed and a convenient location are 2 of the most important things we need when choosing a hotel and we just don't think those needs were met. For people who don't place much importance on those things, I would highly recommend this hotel.
