“delicious and relaxing”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 February 2012

we have arrived home from a delicious and relaxing break at the Bowfield. Our first stay. As commented earlier the staff were welcoming and attentive. The food was great, couldnt ask for better, especially their take on Tapas. It was one of the best meals I have had at a Hotel in recent years. The Pool/Spa were very clean and a good size. The only queerie I would have was about the room itself, though ok and we had a good night sleep, RM 24 did not strike me as a superior double which is what we had booked.

Room Tip: Perhaps queery the roomwhen you arrive.

“disappointed as looked forward to our night away”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 February 2012

Husband & I were looking forward to our night at the hotel. Reception was gorgeous & reception staff were fantastic but its a shame that evening restaurant staff & kitchen staff on break weren't. Food was fantastic, but staff were more interested in talking to each other while 4 tables were waiting to be cleared & wanting the bill. After our meal, we went to the bar area which is delightful & great open fire, but kitchen staff eating their meals on breaks were loud talking about how much the female was "a wee dirty". I'm not prude, but felt uncomfortable and as a result my husband & I left to go to our room.

Room is slightly outdated & can hear people in room above moving about, but the beds are comfy and room adds to hotels character. The pool &sauna are fanastic as is gym facilities, we just felt that some staff members let the hotel down. The lad serving us in the morning for breakfast was certainly on the ball - great to see not all staff are inattentive.

Reception staff were more than apologetic when we raised our concerns & again, hotel facilities were lovely as was food, just certain staff members let it down for our stay so will not be returning.

“Great rustic find.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 January 2012

Bit finicky to find, but a nice hotel. Looks good on the approach but rooms are a bit dated. We didn't mind but it may have been a different story if someone was moving about in the room above. All part of the charm. You could explore the hotel, as there were TV rooms, and a bar and separate pool and snooker rooms, as well as numerous corridors and objets d'art.
Staff were great. The food was good, and a few different places to eat! We were on honeymoon and were treated to a middle range bottle of red.
The gym was good, and well used as it also allows non-residents to use it. Didn't use the pool but it is a fair size. Would be an ideal location for the Airport, only 10mins drive and a much better alternative then the faceless Holiday Inns.
We'd love to go back!

Room Tip: First floor to avoid noise from above.

“relaxing and tasty visit”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 January 2012

visited early in december and walked into lobby to an open fire..there were open fires in the dining room and pub which made for a cozy and romantic weekend. the facilities were great - went into the jacuzzi, steam room, sauna and pool. my husband and I each had a body massage and felt rejuvenated from them. we ate in the dining room for all our evening meals and had something different each night including wines. each meal was very tasty, well presented and we weren't rushed. the room was larger than i expected and comfortable. we went into glasgow city centre and it was short drive away. the hotel was an oasis after being in glasgow in the rain. the stay was what we wanted - a weekend to get away and relax but see glasgow. i recommend it.

“Service Excellent as always! :)”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 December 2011

My husband & I stayed @ the Bowfield for our first wedding anniversary last year & enjoyed it so much we had to go back.
On our first visit the room we had was a bit dated & tired. Everything else about the hotel outweighed any negativity we had about the room.
Fast-forward to this year & we had ROOM 11. WOW I thought I was in a different hotel! The room was lovely. Much more modern & comfortable than the other room. (it even had a decent sized window!).

Its worth booking DBB as the £20food allowance goes along way in the restaurant! Food is wonderful! The night we stayed the waiter told us that his colleague had called in sick but the young guy done a wonderful job juggling the room full of diners with nobody really coming to help :(

Facilities at the Hotel are very good. Gym, Sauna, Steam room & Pool. We often had the pool to ourself :)

I would definitely recommend this hotel to any friends & family coming to stay in the area!

Room Tip: Ask for room 11 Quite a few steps around the hotel
