“Very handy if you have a very early flight!”

This has to be one of the closest hotels to an airport terminal anywhere (except for those actually in an air terminal!) We stay when we have a very early flight with an earlier check-in! Good accommodation, nothing fancy in the basic rooms but they do have coffee and tea making facilities. The bar food is very good and staff very friendly. They have special deals that include one night's accommodation and 7 or 15 days car parking for one price. This make is very attractive.

“shedding a little light”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 January 2012

We booked in for a 'park and stay' as we had an early departure on a week's holiday the next morning. This allows one to stay the night within a very short walking distance from the terminal building (less than one minute) and park your car while you are away.

We arrived at about 10.00pm on 10th January as planned so that we could have a good night’s sleep in advance of our flight early next morning.

At reception we indicated that we would like a wake up call at 3.45am. the next morning, giving us just enough time to check-in for our flight. We were reassured that this wouldn’t be a problem.

When we went to our room, which was beautifully decorated and finished, we switched on the room lights. The level of lighting could only be described as so dim that it was difficult to carry out the normal activities of organising clothes, suitcases etc. associated with preparing for sleep and catching a plane the next morning. As a result we attempted to switch on the two lights at either side of the bed head. Unfortunately we were unable to do so irrespective of the combination of switches that we tried. I even swapped the bulbs from the bed lights to the desk lamp to confirm that it wasn’t the bulbs that were fused. They were both fine. I phoned reception to ask if I was missing something in terms of identifying the correct switch and the reception explained where the switches were. When the advice from reception confirmed that what we had tried to do was indeed correct, we concluded that there must be a problem with the actual switches or the electrical circuit.

As it was now quite late we realised that asking the reception to fix the problem would only have taken time and have resulted in us loosing valuable sleep time, so we decided just to conclude preparations and go to bed in the relative dark and take advantage of the sleep that the booking enabled us to enjoy.

We slept very well in your very comfortable beds but the next morning our wake up call was received after 3.55am.more than ten minutes later than requested, creating something of a rush for us to make the airport at the planned time. Luckily we didn’t miss our flight

On our way out to the airport terminal I reported the lighting problem to the receptionist at the desk in the hope that the next occupants of that room wouldn’t suffer the same difficulties we had.

Having said this the room (other than the lighting) was excellent and the idea of an overnight stay and parking so close to the terminal was quite stress releiving and gave us a good launch into the holiday.

Room Tip: Pick one with the lights working!

So so convinient for B.I.A.!!!
Room clean and ok, Staff very very helpful and provide excellent service (or so i found).
Had a 2 night stay for business reasons, Park Plaza fitted the bill just right.
Food good but a tad on the 'high' side.
Would reccomend to any 'lone' traveller male or female....

“Close, but definitely no cigar!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 January 2012

The only virtue this hotel has is it's fabulously convenient location, literally steps away from the terminal. If you have an early morning flight out of Belfast International, as I did, that may be enough to outweigh the hotel's many negatives: cramped, drear accommodations, poor service, poor facilities and food. High charges for internet, which works poorly. The hotel advertised the early availability of a full, hot breakfast on a banner outside, and I'd hoped to take advantage before my early flight. But when I went downstairs at the appointed time, I discovered that in fact, hot food wouldn't be ready for another half hour, too late for me. If you don't have to catch an early flight, there is absolutely no reason to stay here.

“Mostly functional airport hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 January 2012

We stayed overnight as we were getting a flight at 0615 in the morning and didn't fancy the drive in the early hours. From the point of view of access to the airport it couldn't be better - it really is about 20-30 paces from the door of the hotel to the door of departures. This is a huge plus. Signage on the approach from the airport road could be a bit better and we had to rely on guidance from people who had been there before. Don't go into the airport, but drive on by and around the back.

Our rooms were on the first floor, just over reception. Noise from below wasn't bad, but the coke or water machine on the first floor landing needs a good kick to sort the fan out. It made noise throughout the night and could easily be enough to keep you awake.

The rooms faced directly onto the airport apron (although not really good for spotters) which meant that there was a general hum of activity audible from outside throughout the night. It didn't annoy me, but it might be worth asking for a room at the back of the hotel if you want some quiet.

The windows didn't open (possibly to reduce noise from the apron) but the air conditioning didn't work either, so by the time we left (at 0345, ugh) it was getting pretty stuffy. They need to sort that out.

We ate in the restaurant in the evening when we arrived. Food was good, but they forgot to put through the order for one of our party so there was a bit of a delay for that person while we went ahead and ate ours.

All in all - if you have a flight from Belfast International in the morning it's a good choice, but other than that I wouldn't be in a rush to come back.

Room Tip: If you are a plane spotter go for a room overlooking the apron, otherwise go for a room at the back.
