“Fantastic food and hospitality”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 October 2009

I stayed at the Inn for a weekend with some friends for a birthday celebration. We were made to feel welcome by all members of staff as soon as we arrived. I found all the staff to be friendly and attentive at all times and really enhanced the quality of our stay. The rooms were basic but the shower was hot and powerful - what more would you need?

The real highlight of the weekend was the quality of the food, I had such dishes as wood pigeon, lamb, black pudding and pork. All the produce was sourced locally and was cooked to an excellent standard. The chef was friendly (buy him Magners cider!) and even managed to fix my friend's golf swing! May I also recommend the Black Isle Blonde lager - superb.

All in all a great little venue for relaxing with some food and drinks with friends.

“Fantastic food and service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 June 2008

I often stop at the Inn at Loch Ericht enroute to Edinburgh. The food is always truly delicious and homemade. The coffee is great too.

The owners (I think they have only owned it for a couple of years) have transformed this lovely hotel. Their enthusiasm and hard work is evident in every aspect.

Looking forward to my next visit already.

“Everything but a decent cuppa...”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 May 2008

Not quite what I expected when i arrived ('inn at loch ericht' it is not! The main road, a railway line and half a mile of swampy woodland seperate the Inn from the loch!!) and as another reviewer noted, more lodge than inn but whose worried?
I arrived after a gruelling days walking in the nearby Monadaleith mountains and on arrival I flopped into a huge leather sofa...and pretty much stayed there the rest of the evening as the staff ferried copious quantities of beer to me as I recovered from my exertions!
The staff when I was there were a bunch of very laid back Aussies, Kiwis & Saffers, the music was cool chill out and lounge music, fantastic atmosphere after a tough day on the hills, and the food was fabulous, healthy, very reasonably priced and served promptly.
The room was basic but functional, the cost is less than average and the service is attentive if you want it, but generally very laid back. After a 3 day stay I headed to the Cairngorms, stayed one night in a very well known (and expensive) Aviemore hotel which was utterly vile and phoned the guys in Dalwhinney and returned for a further 3 nights! Can't say more than that!!
Only tip for the place - get some smaller tea pots or use less water (or buy more tea bags!) Don't serve one person a huge pot of tea (suitable for 4 people) with just one tea bag in it!! OK we English might go on about our 'cuppas' but its simple - tea should be brown when poured, not virtually transparent !!!
Hey, notwithstanding...will be back.

“Wrap up warm!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 December 2007

Room was freezing cold, tiny radiator did not warm it up, and there wasn't one in the bathroom which had no ventilation and no way were you opening a window in those temperatures! OK it was November but still you expect to not be woken up by the cold. Staff not apologetic or interested when raised with them.

Food is excellent, would have given it a 1/5 rating if it wasn't for this.
